Arguments/ Logical Fallacies

Ad Hominem

Informal
The ad hominem attack is a logical fallacy associated with trying to undermine the opponent's arguments by personal attacks, through attacking their character or skill level, etc. The ad hominem attack uses an accepted fact about a person to undermine their credibility despite the lack of causal connection between the two parts of the argument.

"This message board is full of idiots"

Appeal to Authority

The fallacy of appeal to authority makes the argument that if one credible source believes something that it must be true.

"Well, if you can do better why aren't you coaching/on the field?"

Appeal to Emotion

The fallacy of appeal to emotion makes a claim based on sympathy or empathetic instead of just or logical grounds.

"Quit being a pussy!"

Caveman Argument Resolution

The fallacy of caveman argument resolution is based on the argument that the person making a claim would not confront the person he is making the claim against therefore the claim is not valid.

"I bet you wouldn't say that to his face"

Injuries

Will Lee, Scooby, J Hill hurt. Lee concerns me, we need him bad against the sips passing attack. Scooby’s injury did not look good at all. Anybody hear any news?

Hope Bisontis and maybe Owens make it back.

On the whorn side it sounds like Ewers tweaked an ankle today.

This program - history lesson

Continually wilts in the pressure of opportunity

1975 - we were #2 and lost to Arkansas
1985 - 87 - could never get over the opening game hump
1992 - lost to ND in the cotton bowl
1995 - as the ap#3 team, we lost to CU
2012 - JFF and we lose to UF and LSU
2013 - lose to Bama and AU - both at home
2015 - #6 - lose to MSU
2016 - #6 - lose to Bama
2020 - miss the playoffs by one spot
2024 - in first place - and shit the bed against USCe and AU.

Beating Texas will be no consolation- just a reminder we don’t have a championship DNA in this program.

We just can’t have nice things.
