I was lucky enough to stumble upon a new workout facility in the last 2 months. It's been awesome, but the most interesting part is that I've been working out with about 25 NFL players getting ready for camp. Most of them are Dallas Cowboys and a few are guys that have been around the league. The guys are really down to earth in this environment, which is a different experience from my time working for the Dallas Cowboys back in 2001 and 2002 seasons. The guys put in time and they work hard. Here you go:
Sean Lee - ready to go. He's not ripped and muscular, but super strong and he's leading the group, even the Giants, Falcons, and 49ers guys. He's rehabbing, then working out, then getting treatment every day. Hope he stays healthy
Bruce Carter - This is a really big dude. quieter than the others. but he's got respect.
Brandon Carr - leading all the DBs and he pushes the whole team. More vocal than you expect cuz I heard he was a quiet guy
JJ Wilcox - you can see why he's playing more. real explosive and committed/focused type guy. Must be in a contract year
Vic Beasley - This is a rookie I think. He's behind the group and looks small for a LB. I hope he's fast.
Victor Butler - Man, this guy is impressive. He's cool as hell and friendly to everyone in between sets. But he gets a look on his face when he's doing the work that isn't fun anymore. Chatting with him he's cool and you can see why teams like him in the locker room, but he looks ready to make a difference on the field. Every bit of 250 lbs and he looks massive. NYG are getting a player.
Barry Church - He's the comedian of the group. always dancing and talking and buzzing around the different exercises screwing with people in a good way
Sterling Moore - He's jacked. He looks like a LB but I know he's a DB. Huge upper body and really flexible. Wears these crazy spiky earrings and the fellas are always ragging on him. Guess he plays for the Bucs now and they call him Petey Pirate cuz of the earrings.
Randy Gregory - They call him the best athlete in the group. He doesn't look like a DE but he's super tall and his arms hang down to his knees.
Craig Dahl - 49ers guy and he's always wearing SF labeled gear. They tease him about making a 50 safe zone for 49ers guys saying he can't work out there unless he pays an extra fee. He's always smiling. I think he's a special teams super hero but everyone seems to know him.
There's a bunch of other guys but I haven't gotten to know them much. I thought ya'll would be interested in the work they put in to get ready. I think this particular place is tied in with the sports agents and they have a contract with the facility to get their guys in shape in the offseason, when they aren't required or allowed to be with their teams.
The trainers are top quality and I feel like I'm getting high-level training. Soccer officiating isn't the same as a pro football player and they've designed workout specifically for me. I'm a believer and know why this company is well-respected in the business.
