Climate Change

Doug Dechert, former gossip columinist and the event’s host, interjected: “The climate hoax!” The enraged yell prompted writer Anthony Haden-Guest to call the host a “miserable blob,” and ask him to “Shut up!” The pair have known each other for 30 years, the publication reported.

As Mr Dechert screamed about the climate change “scam” and Mr Haden-Guest, in turn, called him “f***ing insane” and “insignificant,” the presidential hopeful calmly observed the situation, the outlet reported.

The entire exchange came to an explosive end when Mr Dechert announced: “I’m farting!” followed by a loud noise that suggested he wasn’t lying.

Elko press conference

Says they're healthy, and they were fired up to get back on the field Monday.
Says State is getting better week-to-week, even if the results aren't there. Says they're very dangerous.
Van Buren "found a rhythm" against Georgia in the second half, and says they have three elite wideouts and a veteran offensive line.
Believes the defense has started to find an identity. Thinks they'll have their hands full in Starkville, where they don't play will historically.

Reminded his players that the last time they went to Starkville, it wasn't pretty. "We've lost to everyone left on the schedule in the last two years (save Texas and NMSU)."

No cowbells played during practice. Just very loud music. "This is going to be a rowdy, hostile environment full of energy."
Says that "it's a bad look for the game" when guys are flopping with injuries on defense, but also says that it's not a good look when offenses can just go at whatever speed they please.

Says Weigman is "in a great spot" and will be ready for Saturday. Earlier today, Weigman said he is 100%.
Says Van Buren has a really big arm and they can really stretch the field. Says Van Buren can throw the ball a mile.

When asked what position group has progressed the most since the opener, he says the wideouts. That's the area that has made the most progress.

Says the team feels as good and as fresh as it has at any point, and praises Tommy Moffitt for that.

He's talking about the big challenge for the second half of the year being keeping a championship mindset, to keep bought in on what the coaches have been saying since January. That's what a coach says when he likes what he's got going.

AP Poll - what a strange world we now live in

3 of top 10 are traditional SEC (I’m having a hard time accepting ut)

Only 1 of top 5.

Penn S wins in OT vs unranked USC with 2 highly questionable lack of called PIs. - moves up a spot.

Tenn wins in OT vs unranked Florida and moves down 3 spots.

It’s an odd year of college football and I think with NIL, parody will be the norm as long as schools outside SEC are willing to pay.

Winston Watkins Jr. - WR - ‘25

IIRC, this guy committed to Jimbo a year or two ago. I believe he reversed that decision but haven’t heard his name in quite a while.

Just saw a clip of IMG playing some terrible team from Canada and the game got called at halftime due to the score being 96-0. Anyway, the clip mentioned him in the game and so I did a quick google and found his on3 profile.

An overall 4 star recruit, and their “predicting machine” still has him at a 48% chance of signing with the Ags. Ole Miss was second at 40%.

What’s the story with this guy? It’s possible I just missed it because I haven’t really been following HS recruiting since the portal started. Any nuggets of info? Can the dude play? What type of receiver is he? I know he’s kin to Sammy Watkins but his frame seems more slight than Sammy’s. Is he a quick, slot type of receiver? Or a line up outside the hashes, possession guy? Any thoughts?

One more parallel between Biden and Kamala is...

Plagiarism. Remember when Biden dropped out of the POTUS race because he was caught plagiarizing and lying about his background?

It is amazing how times have changed for the DNC in 35 years.

The Absolutely Unthinkable Scenario

I put this out there as a jinx so it won’t happen. If the Ags and the sips both win out to November, we would play them at Kyle, play them in Atlanta a week later, and then potentially play them again in the playoffs. I never wanted to play them again in my life, and there’s a non-zero chance that I may have to look at their disgusting uniforms 3 times in one season. It would be hilarious to hang their only three Ls though.

Last two weeks of SEC games

A sobering reminder that there are no guaranteed W's in the SEC. Every week is going to be a dogfight. Even the basement teams can jump up and bite you.

SC taking Bama to the wire.
Mississippi State playing Georgia to within 10.
Florida taking UT to overtime.
Vanderbilt beating Bama and Kentucky.
Arkansas beating UT.

We've got a good schedule, let's hope Elko can keep us focused and make 10-1 a reality going into the finale but it won't be easy.
