Halftime observations

That was as solid a first half as we've seen on both sides of the ball. For a change, the Aggies aren't playing down to the level of their competition. They're crushing them.

Conner Weigman was much, much better today. He didn't have happy feet and was patient, almost to a fault. But he was 11-14 for 125 yards and a touchdown, with two drops. He missed a couple of guys who were running deep through the secondary, but he may have been overly cautious because of the competition. He looked good running the ball, picking up 39 yards on 4 carries. Could he have thrown the ball a couple of times when he ran? Possibly. And maybe he does next week. But he showed he can run, and that's good.
I wasn't really enthralled with the slow-developing patterns that we saw for most of the half, but during the last couple of drives, we started to see some Collin Klein offense. And Weigman handled it well. I liked the quick pull and get the ball out we saw on a couple of throws. That's what we want to see. We had a couple of guys get some separation, especially on two really deep crosses, but Weigman didn't let it rip. Again, maybe overly cautious considering the competition. If not, that's an issue.
The offensive line crushed McNeese, which is what they're supposed to do. Except they haven't the last two years. A&M is averaging 7.6 yards a carry and hasn't had a tackle for loss yet. The Aggies only suited up two scholarship backs, and if they want to, they'll both have 100 yards. Le'Veon Moss has 84 on 9 carries and Amari Daniels 44 on 8 carries. They're not only getting holes to run through, they're running through initial tacklers. McNeese can't handle them one-on-one.
The Aggies rotated a bunch of linemen in the first half. Deuce Fatheree, TJ Shanahan and Kam Dewberry got in with no dropoff. Again, a plus.

Defensively, A&M's not doing a lot special, they're just overwhelming McNeese. Solomon DeShields, who didn't play last week, has been awesome with 3 tackles and forcing the second interception. Shemar Turner had a great tackle here he did a hookslide behind the running back and pulled him down for a loss. The line isn't doing much special, they're just bullrushing and collapsing the pocket. I told you Kamden Sixkiller wasn't any good and he's been exactly as advertised -- 3-7, 24 yards and an interception. Trevonte Citizen had a 26-yard run that qualifies as A&M's only bust of the game, and that is literally more than 1/3 of their total offense for the game (76 yards total).
The secondary is doing their job again, and nobody's getting open. Will Lee and Marcus Ratcliffe have picks. I'd like to see more sacks, but they're getting pressure and forcing Sixkiller to make mistakes, so it could be a lot worse.

Overall, A&M is doing what it should and hopefully will continue to do so after halftime and they can rotate more guys in. They already started to do it in the first half, but you want to put this away decisively. Keep playing as they did and that should happen.

Best Option for TV (A&M, Texans, Astros)

Sorry if there's already a thread. I have DirectTV and it failed to negotiate a contract w/ ABC and ESPN. So, I'm shopping. I like a remote in my hand and an easy menu. I kept DirecTV, but just signed up for HULU live TV. The menu system is AWFUL. I cannot seem to find anything even when I know it's on TV. The channels have no numbers, I don't see where I can find stuff I've recorded. But there's FUBU, there's YouTube TV. I have no idea as to the best choice out there. Wife likes regular TV, but I have to have sports in the house too - A&M, Texans, Astros. I don't care so much about cost, except I don't want to get robbed by signing up for 3 different services, when one would have done the trick. What do you guys use in the Houston area? What's the best service considering most importantly viewing options, but useability. Not impressed with HULU so far, but learning. Thanks.

EDIT: I see the other thread. I'll go through it.

Slap fighting championships

By now, im sure you’ve all seen this atrocity on humanity. All the “parkers” that couldn’t make it in arm wrestling wars or whatever the fvck they called it…just focused their attention to slapping as hard as they could.

This is what we’ve resorted to as a people. I’m disgustingly intrigued by these troglodytes. Both male and female.

I was having a conversation/drunken argument with a fvckin moron/colleague of mine earlier and this subject was broached/dropped anonymously by some random chic he’s tryin to bang, and I thought I’d bring it here for a thorough once over.

Now, that I’m here and typing I completely forgot what the point was. FVCK those chics are gross, amirite?

Time to Bootstrap Up, Game Look...

Good Morning and Howdy Ags! Blessings to Y'all! I thought I would take a more goals/results oriented slant on the game today, because aside from the reset, I firmly believe that's what is needed. Some of these will be very concrete and some less tangible, so bear with me. So, let's lay out some things we want accomplished from top to bottom....
  • Restore Confidence - Starting with QB1. Honestly, I hope this began as soon as they hit the showers last week. No one knows more than those kids how much of an egg they laid with most of the football world watching last week. Still, confidence is a fragile thing. Leaders have to strike the right balance between showing the troops you still believe in them without coddling them along with no responsibility for their mistakes. The team, in turn, has to be willing to take accountability and know they still have innate talent, ability, strength, drive and focus to be better. Getting knocked down is part of life. Getting back up and overcoming shows what you're made of. That starts today.
  • Pass, Run & Score Big! - This is not game to set modest goals to "work on things." Getting those accomplished should be sidelight of hammering McNease over, through and under Kyle. Normally, I am not a big fan of running up the score, (never do it insultingly...) but in our case, a point has to be made. We should be getting 250+ passing, 150+ running, and at a minimum, anything short of 50 points, is going to be very disappointing. The offense needs to come out like McNease waltzed in and stole their pre-game meal. Sometimes, a little focused anger is best.
  • Begin to Build Identities on Both Sides of the Football - Truthfully, the defense is a little farther along. They looked like had an idea of who they were against ND. They just didn't focus at times and it was costly in a close game. I think the defense wants to be smartly aggressive. I believe the Coaches will let the "Dogs" loose a little more today. They have some pent up frustration. I expect some sacks and hopefully some turnovers. Offense. Ah, nope, not gonna get me. I'm still a fan of both Conner and Coach Klein. Let's start with the coaching. Ever have one of those Christmases with too many toys you like?! I think Coach Klein got a little caught up in that last week and went away from why he was hired. Power running, quick passing game with a mix of deep shots. Off that, a lot of motion, misdirection and creativity to receivers, RBs and TEs. In my mind, there was plenty of blocking to make that happen, mostly. It seemed to me, he so focused on keeping the reads simple for Conner, that he lost his creative touch on play calling (at least for a game...). I believe some of that was out of respect for the Irish. Credit them, that secondary is very good! But you can't coach away from who you are, because that's not who these kids are following. Get back to it!! Conner may have been sick, (likely...) but I'll leave the discussion of pulling him to the coaches. Bottom line, he played and played badly. As a QB, you've got to trust what you see and be decisive. I saw little of that from Conner and that led to poor play. Add in, that his mechanics were off all night and the result was what it was. Now, from what I also saw, he also got little help from his Coach or receivers. The line was a silver lining. On to today, it's time to start building a identity of what this offense wants to be. Let's call it a, "Triangle of Trust." Coach Klein has to get back to his roots of game planning and calling plays. Respect your opponent, sure, but have more respect for what your offense can do. Trust they will execute the plays you send in, which by design contain the fundamentals and creativity to exploit the defense. If they're not making it, ADJUST!! You have more plays. Conner, trust what your Coach is requiring of you. See it and make the play. You're the one guy who has the ball nearly every play. You have to have faith in yourself and the guys around you. The rest of the offense... Trust what you've been taught on the practice field and carry to the game. Trust that Conner can lead you, but only if you do your job as well (I'm talking to you, wide receiver group...).
Looking for a Curb Stomp Gig'em!!!

Best and worst result from today…

Naturally assuming a win…

Best: Connor is other worldly and makes last week look like a one off day. The QB we all heard about and showed flashes proves ND game was an aberration.

Worst: Connor is mediocre. We score 30 points, he throws for 300 but doesn’t look sharp, doesn’t have great reads, and is moderately accurate. Not bad enough to bench but not good enough for hope.

In the middle: Conner has another bad day. It appears he’s just not back as advertised. The coaches have the stones to pull him and play Reed who comes in and kills it.

What a difference a week makes
After hearing -- and seeing -- all summer how good Conner Weigman was practicing, he was awful Saturday night against Notre Dame. While he's still going to be the starter tomorrow (barring something crazy), I was told Marcel Reed did get some first team reps this week. Part of that was just to get Weigman calm and steady, and part of it was to make sure Reed is ready to go. It also kind of settles the discussion of who QB2 is between Reed and Jaylen Henderson.

More Moose?
I've already mentioned that several people have said Weigman was under the weather last week. He wasn't the only one; Moose Muhammad was also reportedly sick as well. He was limited to 7 snaps and no receptions. I don't think he's going to start tomorrow -- they like the three they have out there -- but hopefully he will get some more reps.

Offensive line stays the same around Faaiu
Koli Faaiu will take over at center for Mark Nabou, who was lost for the year after getting hurt in the first half last week. The rest of the lineup, however, remained healthy and will be out there tomorrow. So that means Trey Zuhn, Chase Bisontis, Ar'maj Reed-Adams and Dametrious Crownover.

Notable absence Saturday night
Senior transfer Solomon DeShields, who was expected to win the job next to Taurean York at linebacker, did not play at all against Notre Dame. Simply put, he didn't know the defense well enough to be out there. And, with the performance of Williams (and, to a lesser extent, Sanford), it may be tough for him to get serious playing time. He'll have to step up if he gets a chance this weekend and really shine.

McNeese's QB iffy going into Saturday
Cowboys starter Clifton McDowell is reportedly banged up and a gametime decision for tomorrow's matchup with the Aggies. There's at least a chance that McNeese, looking ahead to more winnable games, holds the dual-threat quarterback out. If McDowell can't go, they'll turn to redshirt freshman Kamden Sixkiller, who was splitting time with McDowell anyway.
And he's not good.

Baseball picks up elite '25 commit
Pearland High SS/RHP Nico Partida was committed to Arizona State until fairly recently, when he pulled the plug. He visited College Station last weekend and, last night, announced he was committing to the Aggies. One of the top prospects in Texas for 2025, Partida has primarily been a power-hitting shortstop, but has also pitched a little. During that "little" period of time, he's hit 97 on the gun. How Michael Earley and company intend to use him will be interesting to see.

Former A&M assistant fired at Memphis
This one stinks more than a little. Penny Hardaway wiped out his staff of assistants yesterday, including Rick Stansbury, after a whistleblower claimed Hardaway himself had been involved in recruiting violations. Stansbury, if you'll recall, was Billy Kennedy's top assistant and ace recruiter from 2014-16, when he took the top job at Western Kentucky (which he held for seven seasons). I don't think Buzz will pick him up, because there are no ties and he's got a full staff, but it's pretty dirty pool by Hardaway.

Anyone with plans to vacation in Venezuela..........

May want to rethink it.................

The United States has seized a plane used by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and flown it from the Dominican Republic to Florida after determining that its purchase violated U.S. sanctions, the U.S. Justice Department said on Monday.

The seizure of the aircraft came amid continuing pressure on Maduro at home and abroad over a contested July 28 election that he claimed to have won, while the opposition said its vote tallies showed its candidate to have soundly defeated him.

Maduro, his associates and the OPEC member-state's vital oil sector are under heavy U.S. sanctions, and his handling of the election has raised the prospects that further measures could be imposed.

“This morning, the Justice Department seized an aircraft we allege was illegally purchased for $13 million through a shell company and smuggled out of the United States for use by Nicolás Maduro and his cronies,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.

U.S. officials said the seizure, which was first reported by CNN, was made working closely with the Dominican Republic.

The Venezuelan government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
