Not Patton's fault

I would hate to be in his position. Our 3 stud starters are pretty much copies of each other. So, Patton has to be more precise on location. All throw 91 mph fast balls and low to mid 80 off speed. Mechanics look the same. If his towards are off, he is in trouble. Would like to see a hard thrower on Saturday

Nine conference games looking more likely
For the past couple of years, the SEC has said publicly that they are “studying” the idea of going to a nine-game conference schedule, which is why the 2024 schedule is simply being flipped. Privately, however, the message has been clear: you want another conference game, you pay for it.

It looks like ESPN/ABC has finally gotten to the point where they’re willing to.

According to The Athletic, ESPN has indicated that they’ll add more money to the already $811 million a year deal it has with the SEC to get another conference game. The price tag will be considerable, estimated at between $50 million and $80 million a year. But, considering the ratings bonanza SEC football was for ESPN/ABC last year, it's worth the extra chunk of change.

Expecting a quite June commit-wise, but look out for July
June is an absolutely critical month for 2026 recruiting, as A&M will have the lion's share of their official visitors in. I'm not expecting a whole lot of immediate commitments, if any, but that could change very quickly in July. Two A&M targets, DT Lamar Brown and LB Tai'Yion "Tank" King are both scheduled to commit on Independence Day. Right now, I'd give A&M the edge for both of them.
5-star receiver and site favorite Ethan "Boobie" Feaster has said he'd like to announce a commitment on or about the 10th of July. A&M is now favored for him, after longtime leader LSU has slipped back. Feaster would give A&M the best wideout class in the nation, but right now LSU would have the edge with their three against A&M's three. With Tristen Keys and Jabri Mack committed to LSU, the numbers game leans A&M's way for Feaster -- and his family loves Mike Elko.
ATH Legend Bey, who has added a fourth star and exploded on the recruiting trail this spring, will make an official visit May 22 and could commit after he gets done with his officials. His last one is June 20 to Notre Dame, the team I think is A&M's biggest competition. Bey would also likely be a wideout.
The Aggies are after a lot of quality corners, including 5-star Brandon Arrington and 4-star Dorian Barney, but there's another big corner that the Aggies are in good shape for: Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge 4-star Camren Hamiel. Hamiel is down to a final four (announced today) of Oregon, Penn State, Nebraska and A&M and the Aggies are presumed to lead for him. CB Coach Jordan Peterson targeted him early and has worked hard on this one, and the Aggies will get Hamiel's last official on June 20.

Freshmen most likely to play (as of right now)

I don't see any freshmen starting, though there's a chance one does. But there may be a need for a few to play some time -- and a couple others may force the coaching staff's hand.

The one I think has a chance at starting is 4-star WR Jerome Myles, who will be on campus in a couple of weeks when Summer I starts. He brings size they need (6-foot-4) and, if he's as good as they anticipate, he may be a starter with KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. At the least, he could push Terry Bussey and Ashton Bethel-Roman.

DE Marco Jones has already worked his way into the equation with his extremely impressive spring. He could be on the field as the JACK right off the bat.

One of the freshmen corners will almost certainly play. Judging from the spring, Adonyss Currie is well on the way to being that guy. Maybe they can avoid it if they decide to use Tyreek Chappell on the outside on occasion, but otherwise one of the freshmen is almost certainly going to be needed.

Kiotti Armstrong could play at tight end. They need a pass catcher and he and Amari Niblack are the two who can fill that role.

LB Noah Mikhail probably wouldn't play a lot, but he also had an excellent spring and could find his way on the field. Size-wise, he's ready.

What will Lamkin do?

Lefty starter Justin Lamkin is a junior and is having a very solid year, with a 3.88 ERA in spite of a 3-6 record. He's struck out 75 and walked just 11 in 67 1/3 innings. In spite of his stats and his excellent fastball/slider mix, he still isn't getting a ton of love from scouts for whatever reason. Most estimates have him ranked in the low 100s when it comes to 2025 draft prospects, or about where Ryan Prager was last year. I've seen a lot of speculation that he's a mid-round pick at this point, which is lower than I would have expected. Prager was the highest draft pick not to sign last year, so A&M can clearly get the NIL money together to keep a quality starter. Whether Lamkin would follow Prager's lead isn't clear -- I would guess he doesn't and leaves -- but at least it could be interesting.
If Lamkin and Shane Sdao both return -- which is a big if -- then A&M has a stacked rotation again. It may be easier to keep Myles Patton, since he's knocked a little lower than Lamkin, but it's no walk in the park to convince a junior to stay for a senior season if they're drafted moderatly high.
Still, it's something to follow after what happened with Prager last year.

Found out today I am being let go at End of Month due to downsizing

Longtime listener, first time (close enough) caller....I'm talking Websider days

I am the #2 at a small IT MSP in Dallas. Due to pricing adjustments and other dumbass strategies set by our owner late last year, we have had two clients offboard in the last 5 months. I had to hustle, adjust pricing, and promise above their current service offerings on our largest client to save them from severing their agreement. Owner is now hiring offshore from S Africa and Philippines to try and replace most of the technical staff. I have seen the writing on the wall for a few months and have been passively poking around the job market, but now time is of the essence. I am negotiating a severance with the owner right now, but it might get me halfway through summer.

I have been our Operations Manager since 2021, hired into the company as a project engineer in 2019, and have also worked as our CIO internally and to our clients; setting up cyber strategies (physical and end-user) and helping protect physical infrastructure. Layers of the onion...IYKYK. I do not have any of the big buzz certs to justify a second look for CIO interviews such as CISSP, but honestly I run a tight ship and do not care if I stay in IT. I would prefer not to go back into technical IT work on a large scale team, but would consider it given the situation I am currently in.

My targeted jobs are:
Ops Manager/Director of Ops
IT Service Manager

I know the IT MSP business inside and out, and have considered starting up my own. But not entirely sure I want to take that risk and my wife is pretty apprehensive for me to take that on since most of our livable income relies on me.

I would love to work for a company with great values and culture. Honestly, I could be the solo IT guy for a small business as I think that would be fun. Not just break/fix, but the high level strategies as well.

Spreading the work and hoping for even a turn in the right direction.

Ag98 & Fbfan222 Here's Some Jesse Jackson Stories

On a different post I mentioned that I used to live by a Secret Service Agent. His stories were pretty fascinating but his Jesse Jackson stories were pretty funny.

The first thing he told me was when he was out on rotations with the Carter's, Regans or Bushs he never touched the presidents or first ladies. With Jesse they were always so afraid of how he (Jesse) liked to wade into crowds not seeming to care or being afraid of getting shot. So (Mike) my neighbor said he used to grab the back of Jesse's belt and push and pull him into and out of crowds while him and his team were on the highest of alert fearing the worse. Mike said no other president or presidential candidate he ever had to protect would get themselves into crowds like Jesse did.

Mike had an aerial photograph in his office (that was in his home) that showed him walking immediately beside Jesse on the streets of Harlem one day. In this picture there are literally thousands of Harlem residents surrounding them and thousands more hanging out of the high rise buildings above them. Mike said when he looked up and saw all of the people who could have easily shot them and all of the people who were bumping into them he knew they were going to lose their lives that day. He said at one point he couldn't even see another Secret Service Agent nor could he hear anything over the roar of the crowd.

He said he was yelling at Jesse just to be heard to watch were he was stepping as Mike noticed there was a puddle over a man hole cover they were approaching. Jesse kept asking Mike what he was saying and Mike would repeat every time to watch the water ....watch the water. With Jesse not missing a beat still waving his hands above his head he said to Mike...oh I thought you said to walk on the water....Mike said he yelled in Jesse ear....you're not that good preacher.

Another time while they were at a fund raiser in a hotel Mike said the Secret Service had overnighted a bullet proof vest for Jesse. The hotel manager gave the package to Mike and Mike asked Jesse to walk into the bathroom with him that he had something for him. Mike opens the package and shows the vest to Jesse and asks him to put it on for fit. Jesse puts it on and likes how it looks in the mirror and turns back towards Mike. To Jesse's surprise Mike acts like he's taking out his pistol and tells Jesse he wants to test the vest. Jesse starts yelling at Mike .....NO MIKE NO !!!! Then they got a good laugh over it.

Mike says to me could you even imagine telling President Reagan or President Bush you want to try out their bulletproof vest ? He said Jesse was a great guy and alway knew he wasn't going to be elected president but he was making too much money to quit. Mike told me that was a direct quote from Jesse.

If my post gets any traction I have a few more about Jesse and his finances on the campaign trail.

Ruidoso Fires

Been going to Ruidoso since I was about 5, I'm sure many of you also. It's just what you do for vacation in West Texas. @Reckless75 and I talk quite a bit about going to the horse races out there. My dad had racehorses out there in the late 70s. 60% of the homes out there are vacation homes and quite a few of them have burned to the ground. I talked to a couple good friends this morning that have homes out there and both are gone. My brother sold his condo out there a couple months, I guess lucky for him. Anyway, town is under mandatory evacuation and most, if not all roads going in are closed. Probably 100 mil worth of horse flesh is at Ruidoso Downs and limited options of getting them out. Hopefully the fire doesn't get that far.
