This thing that happened to him in Phoenix before the Super Bowl doesn't make sense. He said something in a one-minute, friendly interaction (that ended with a handshake) that got him kicked out of his room and suspended by the NFL Network? I'm going to guess that he propositioned her, and she was offended by that? Is that grounds for getting kicked out of a hotel? Because if it is I need to rethink my tactics.

Judge orders Marriott to provide video, details related to complaint against Michael Irvin

Former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin scored an early win Thursday in his $100 million defamation lawsuit against Marriott, as a judge ordered the hotel chain to provide his legal team with all video records and other information related to a female hotel employee's Feb. 5 complaint against Irvin that resulted in NFL Network and ESPN pulling him from Super Bowl-week appearances, according to court records.

The judge ordered Marriott to submit details that include all video recordings, written reports and witness statements that Marriott gathered involving Irvin and his stay at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel. The company also must provide the name and contact information of anyone offended by Irvin's conduct along with any employees and managers who contacted the NFL about his conduct.

TMZ first reported the order for Marriott to provide the video recordings by Mondav,

In Irvin's lawsuit, which was filed last week in Collin County, he accuses Marriott and the "Jane Doe" hotel staffer not only of defamation but wrongful interference in a business relationship.

Irvin told The Dallas Morning News last week that he spoke with a woman for no longer than a minute in the hotel lobby, shook her hand and walked alone to his room. The woman later complained about the interaction. According to the lawsuit's original petition, Marriott's security team woke up Irvin and escorted him from the hotel grounds. He was banned from all Marriott properties, and a hotel manager notified the NFL about the situation, per the document.

The exact nature of the woman's complaint and the full scope of what prompted Marriott's actions against Irvin are unclear. A Phoenix police official told The News last week it received no criminal complaint involving Irvin.

Marriott has not returned multiple requests for comment about Irvin's lawsuit.

Three witnesses who back Irvin's description of the lobby conversation spoke with The News in phone interviews last week. They said they noticed no wrongdoing in the brief exchange between him and the woman.
