Mask mandates coming back...??

And I’m pretty sure that the second least vaccinated population is Hispanic.

Then look at the data on deaths & hospitalizations and see who these folks are. They’re still overwhelmingly blacks and Hispanics over 60 with underlying consisting.

That is patently false. The greatest unvaccinated group are blacks, on a percentage of the population basis. It’s pretty well understood how blacks generally vote, and it ain’t on the right.
You can't really blame them either, with what the government did in Tuskegee, and to the soldiers in WW2 with the mustard gas testing. These being blasted over the news the last couple of years too. They have zero reasons to trust the government. For those that don't believe in systemic racism, those are two glaring examples, yes pre-civil rights era, but disgusting nevertheless.

Also, the last number I saw for people who were fully vaccinated that later died from a breakthrough covid case was around 1000, IIRC (USA only).

I’m not blaming them. It’s just inconvenient to the left-right/pro-skeptic narrative.

Remind me, what percentage of the population are they?

funny, because the same people note here that the largest percentage unvaccinated are blacks

https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-cov...data-on-covid-19-vaccinations-race-ethnicity/

And, regarding the unvaccinated younger population, cross-reference that with the hospitalizations and deaths and it ain’t that group.

Which bears out what everyone has been saying for months. If you’re at risk of a serious case or there are vulnerable around you (such as the folks in here with the transplant/immunosuppressed) then get the vax. If you’re not in that risk group you’re almost 100% going to be fine. And if you’ve already had covid you will definitely be fine.

You’re not great at math, are you?

You didn’t read the data did you?

It specifically states that blacks and Hispanics are getting vaccinated at much lower rates than whites. And it’s not a matter of access or money since it’s free.

Look at figure 3 in my link which demonstrates the disparity.

But I’m not surprised you don’t understand data or statistics since your entire posting history demonstrates a tenuous grasp of facts.

“Boy, Republicans sure are getting a bad rap for not getting vaccinated. I know! Let’s find a way to blame black people!”

And way to miss the message. Older blacks and Hispanics are far more likely to be at high risk and it’s far more important for them to get vaccinated than the 25-year old white dude working as a lumberjack in east Texas. But they’re not getting it.

From my link:

Discussion

Together, these data show that, despite recent trends suggesting improving equity in COVID-19 vaccination patterns and a recent narrowing in the gap between vaccination rates for White and Hispanic people, disparities are persisting. Less than half of Black and Hispanic people have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose in nearly all states reporting data, including a number of states where less than a third have received a vaccine. These lower vaccination rates among Black and Hispanic people leave them at increased risk for coronavirus, particularly as the Delta variant spreads, potentially leading to widening disparities going forward and limiting the nation’s recovery.

“Why would they get vaccinated without having the science explained to them?” Yes, break out the crayons and let’s explain mRNA vaccines to the folks who threw all of their stimulus check money into Marlboro Reds.

From mine:

There are strong partisan differences in vaccine intentions with almost half (49%) of unvaccinated adults identifying as Republicans or Republican-leaning independents, compared to three in ten (31%) vaccinated adults. On the other hand, Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents make up a majority of the vaccinated population (about six in ten), while about three in ten in the unvaccinated population identify as Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents.

Political Science vs Science. Wife run's an preschool and has been following scientist all over the world through this whole thing. If they have any evidence of political bias in social media posts, unfollow and ignore comments. John Hopkins doctors are some of the best to follow as they are non political and just provide additional data and information. It all comes down to personal responsibility and your risk.

It can’t be stated enough that these commie shitbags don’t care about covid, statistics, or science. It’s about making you as an enemy of the agenda. In this case, a white supremacist.

As dismissive as you are being, a lot of them are not getting it because of misinformation like they are forced sterilization shots or that there are chemicals that will do X, Y, or Z. The WH has been calling them idiots for the last 6 months and talking down to them. Obviously calling someone a moron because they aren't taking the vaccine isn't working. Maybe try fighting misinformation with a reasoned rebuttal that is ELI5, instead of saying "quit being a retard and just get the shot".

None of this is true

Some of it is.
Masks don’t do much especially the cloth masks and mask mandates haven’t shown to do anything at all.
The vaccine does seem to slow transmission but certainly doesn’t stop it. See White House and Texas democrats (apolitical) but they spread it.
The vaccine does have an apparent drastic effect of lowering the symptoms from covid.

Also, how can anyone say anything is “true” when all the experts and politicians have been wrong so many times? Countless receipts on this. You might say it’s not our best guess right now but not much has shown to be “true”.

This hospitalizations are going up and should rapidly drop in a couple of weeks if we follow Britain which we are so far.
Also, these numbers are alarmingly good and should be cause for celebration. I can only attribute the low death rates to the vaccine AND natural immunity which is reportedly better.

Masks do not work for preventing the spread of covid-19. The vaccine does not work for preventing the spread of covid-19. Vaccinated people are still dieing from COVID-19, and our being hospitalized. How many on here got the vaccine because they were told if they did we could get back to life as normal?
  1. Masks work. They are not as effective as distancing or the vaccine(s) but they certainly work to slow the spread of Covid (and flu or any other virus spread via aerosol). N95 masks and KN95 mask are clearly better than cloth masks but cloth masks do help.
  2. Very few people believe that "The vaccine does not work for preventing the spread of covid-19.". There's no way to defend this statement. If the intent is to state that vaccines are not 100% effective then it's only confirming what every expert out there has already stated - that's why we need as many people vaccinated as we can get (herd immunity).
  3. Vaccinated people are dying from Covid-19 at a much lower rate than unvaccinated people and are hospitalized at a much lower rate.

Here is a good thread that doesn’t appear to have any political bias.

Let’s say masks work. I don’t think outside of N95 they do much and mandates haven’t appeared to have any grand effect. Is forcing vaccinated people to mask going to encourage unvaccinated people to get the vaccine? I’d argue no. I’d also argue that we can do this forever or we can let adults make their own choices and live with their choices. Finally, and again, blacks and Hispanics which vote dem by and large are the highest unvaccinated groups and the groups who disproportionately get sick/die from Covid.

Please show me where the WH called someone an idiot.

  1. Masks do work but some are better than others. KN95 not as good as N95 but better than a gator or a mask with a vent. This seems like common sense.
  2. I haven't thought too much on encouraging the unvaccinated and requiring masks. Masks are a short term solution and vaccines are long term. I hate masks, just like everyone else so I hope that peer pressure will encourage the unvaccinated to vaccinate so we don't have to wear them
  3. We live in a society and there are breakthrough cases (lately, lots of breakthrough cases). I'd argue that you're making a choice for someone else with your own choice
  4. I'll let you argue this with travster because I don't have the numbers.
