Y’all might want to buy some extra liquor and/or beer to drink come November 30th. Because this team isn’t winning that game unless things drastically change in a hurry.
Bateman is a bad hire. Nothing to argue there. We should have beaten ND. That’s another truth. The fact is our defense got undisciplined as the game went on and fell flat is strictly due to bad coaching. As bad as Conner was, there’s blame with the defense. And we saw it again tonight. Likely, we will see it again as the season progresses. This defense has regressed massively from last year in multiple ways.
Klein’s play calling is very suspect. Running it down the middle over 50% of the time into a massive box that isn’t opening up when you have a QB that can run it doesn’t scream to me as an OC that “can make adjustments and take advantage of an opposing defense.”
The truth? I think we’re a decent team. By that, expect 8-9 wins this year. But this coaching staff has some major flaws. The question is whether or not Elko can swallow his pride after this season to make the right changes.
