The way they handled impeachment and ramrodded it through was pathetic. The Republican minority couldn’t do anything about it. Guess what, Republicans have the majority in the Senate, so they need to quit whining about fair play and hypocrisy. Karma is a bitch sometimes. This is Denocracy at its finest. End of story.

RBG seemed like a pretty neat lady although our politics weren’t remotely close. Her name and reputation will be sullied if those wackos start rioting again for any reason related to her replacement. Correct bc the Republicans were in charge of the Senate then. There have been 7 court vacancies filled during Presidential campaign years since 1900. In every case the President made the nomination promptly upon the vacancy, The case of confirmation also proceeded normally in these seven judges.

The case of delaying until after the election only materializes since 1992 under the so called Biden rule. The Biden rule addresses the case where a President of one party requires a confirmation vote by the senate controlled by the other party. This rule has been used only twice once in 1992 (Republican President - Democrat senate) and in 2016 (Democrat President- Republican Senate). This is not a case for the Biden rule as we have a Republican President AND a Republican Senate.

No hypocrisy. It’s just not what you would like.

I don’t care what Republican clips you have. Trump, like every President before him will nominate a replacement and the Senate, like every Senate in the past, will decide when to take up the nomination, In this case, the nomination will be taken up for debate and confirmed.

Probably. Though I bet Garland is wondering about the “when to take up the nomination” part.

Obama nominated Garland, Trump has every right to nominate who he wants. Difference here is who controls teh Senate. If it was a Dem Senate for Garland's confirmation he would have been seated (I tend to believe if there was a Dem Senate the candidate would have been farther left leaning). Republican's hold the Senate and they can do as they please. I think it will be hard still to confirm because of the moderates that lack resolution.

And I applaud Ginsburg for her focus on equality, but she was one of the worst justices to ever sit on the bench. If she was so focused on equality and rights she should have been in Congress, writing laws. Her interpretation of them most always ignored the 10th amendment. Lots of far reaching that took the powers out of the states hands and in itself was Un-Constitutional. We were not created to have a controlling Federal government. We were for the most part to be 13 (now 50) individual governments. Some in agreement, some not. A lot of the issues we have today in disagreements is in turn because the Federal Government has dictated how to live lives. Federalism needs to be re-embraced.
 
Rbg's interpretation of constitution was scary to say the least. Not quite as racist as Sotomayor but partisan comments were over the top.
