Footwear with suits…. Question

See a lot of sports people wearing suits with sneakers instead of dress shoes. Realize they may be on their feet a lot, but man it looks tacky.

Now at a wedding and seeing same. Guess I’m old, but class is dress shoes not workout shoes. Thoughts.
