I know there has been a lot of discussion about Sumlin not being a "football guy" but Dabo Swinney is proof you don't have to be. He never called plays and was a glorified WR coach before he took the head job at Clemson. Now all he does is recruit and bring in good coordinators. Take into consideration the ACC is a lot weaker than the SEC West.
His record at Clemson:
2009: 9-5
2010: 6-7
2011: 10-4
2012: 11-2
2013: 11-2
2014: 10-3
I think Sumlin can get close to replicating what Dabo Swinney is doing if he hires the right guy to call plays.
