He was an absolute musical genius and he couldn't have done it without the voices in his head. I've watched documentaries and interviews with / about him and it's amazing he made it to 82. The voices in his head comment was not tongue & cheek either... He's said that there are voices in his head and some of the harmonies of the Beach Boys were directly derived from those voices. Also near and dear to my heart with Brian was his bass playing. While it's true that many of the Beach Boys albums were done with Carol Kaye playing bass (she's amazing in her own right), she has said that some of those iconic basslines were written by Brian, and I believe one of those was Good Vibrations.
