1. Two touchdowns. That's it. We looked good on our first possession with a TD and got only one more the entire game after that. Two TDs and four field goals summarize our scoring. In terms of just TDs we did not outscore Bowling Green which also had two.

2. Defense with only one three and out the entire game. To be sure, it came at a good time late in the game, but it was the only one. We gave up 17 first downs to Bowling Green. While the defense tended to stiffen around midfield Bowling Green's productivity on offense meant we generally started with poor field position.

3. Running backs 30 carries for 146 yards. The longest run by a running back was 15 yards. Not until late in the game were we able to start getting chunk yards on the ground from our running backs as we wore down the BG defense some.

4. Marcel Reed with 12 carries for 91 yards made our quarterback our leading rusher. Reed also claimed our longest run of the game at 18 yards.

5. Reed 16/29 for 173 yards and both our touchdowns. Good, but not great. Reed missed some passes he should have made. The BG quarterback had 250 yards.

6. Harold Fannin, Bowling Green's tight end, with eight receptions for 145 including a 65 yard touchdown on the opening play of the second half that was exactly what they needed. We let their best player get away from our coverage again and again, and how we could leave him that open on that play is unfathomable.

Overall. Statistically this game was similar in stats and score to Bowling Green's game against Penn State. We could view ourselves as a team roughly as good as Penn State based on this. Their keeping us with us was not a fluke. Were we lucky to win? To some degree, yes. Whenever you win by less than a TD you risk the one play that could have turned things the other way. But statistically we were better with 21 first downs to their 17 and 410 total yards to their 339.

Upnext. On the road to Arkansas which beat Auburn last night 24-14.
