Some of you may remember my friends Lori and Alan, who lost their daughter Riley shortly after she was born last year. Many of you helped pay Lori's hospital costs (I think you paid them off).

Since the odds of a successful pregnancy are slim, the two have decided to adopt. Most agencies have quoted them a price of around $25,000 for a newborn baby. That's obviously a pretty big chunk of change, and they couldn't afford it. Which sucks, because they would be great parents.

Lori played a scratchoff lotto game Tuesday and won $25,000. Amazing.
