To see the difference between where Kyler is and Kyle is, look at the high lite video in the other thread. At the 8:52 mark is the start of the 4th and inches play, when Carson gets stopped. ASU is in a 3 man base front. The DE pinches hard to the inside, the OLB scrapes and goes straight to the RB and gets the stop, that's his assignment. Before the play ever starts the DB covering the slot, C Kirk, crashes down the line and has the QB in case he pulls and runs outside zone. The safety now has responsibility on the slot.
Now forward to the 10:40 mark, Ags are in a one back set again with the same play called. ASU has the exact same defense called. Allen reads it correctly, pulls the ball from the inside zone, hits Kirk because he's the hot read and 64 yards later TD!
Now, at the 11:44 mark, the Tra Carson rushing TD. Ags are now in a pistol formation with 3 wide and H-back in the backfield. Allen reads it, gives the ball to Carson on the inside zone and the H-back picks up the scraping OLB, Cheek does his job, the SAM is late and Carson punches it in.
All the people whining about being in a 4 wide shotgun formation on 4th and inches don't know what they are whining about. The play call was fine, KM missed the read and ASU either confused him or he doesn't know the offense yet. If he hits 3 in the flat it's and easy 1st if not a TD.
