Players are now getting paid, but at what cost?

According to one report from an Ohio State journalist this afternoon, the tab on one recruit is apparently getting too high for the Buckeyes to cover.
Speaking on 97.1 The Fan today, Dave Biddle claimed that Ohio State "missed out" on a five star recruit because they weren't even able to offer him half of what he was looking for in terms of NIL compensation.

Per Biddle, the unnamed player received an offer in the realm of $800k per season to play at Georgia, not including an additional $1.8 million signing bonus. The Buckeyes, on the other hand, could not manage to get him more than $500k.

"Ohio State missed out on a 5 star recruit because they could not pay him even half of what he was looking for. They didn’t get him over $750k...UGA offered the kid 1.8M to sign and 800k/season...OSU couldn't get him more than 500K," Dave Biddle said on 97.1 The Fan this morning.
College football fans appear to have a variety of different takes on today's NIL news.

One twitter user states, "this seems like the exact opposite of what NIL was created to do," while another echoed his sentiment by saying, "this is not what NIL was supposed to be. Happy for the kids, sad for the sport."

Others, though, don't appear to feel bad for the Buckeyes. "Poor poor Ohio State," one fan wrote, with another saying "Ohio State crying about NIL is hilarious to me."
Adding his two cents on the matter, former Buckeye quarterback Cardale Jones jumped into the conversation by claiming that today's story is misleading.

"FAKE NEWS. 'OSU didn’t MISS OUT' on any kid just chasing NIL money!" Jones said. "Maybe that kid missed out on a opportunity to be apart of something amazing that’s going to last longer than any amount of money! Maybe that kid MISSED OUT on OSU! maybe get the facts straight."

NIL deals, like the one reported today, will likely remain a source of contention amongst college football fans for the immediate future.

Anthony Hill?

Now that he has signed, are allowed to know what the heck happened with our most important recruit of this class? Is he an attention hog and we didn't give him enough? Was he disenchanted by our abysmal season? Did he want to see a change in the defensive staff?

ChatGPT/OpenAI

Has anyone viewed or used this since the beta opened? The implications are terrifying but it’s ability to knock massive amounts of work out for you in seconds is insane.

For example, let’s say I needed a legal template to write an equity plan document for a company, I can prompt the program to do that and within seconds it will begin to develop my template for me with all applicable legalese which I can drop into a doc and edit as needed.

Same for developers as well. Let’s say I need a code to conduct a command or query in any programming language. You prompt the AI and within seconds you’ll have the code as well as instructions on how to integrate effectively.

Kids are also using this to write term papers, book reports, essays, etc. in school.

Pretty much a game changer but can absolutely be weaponized if someone decides to limit source material.

I'd like to auction two jerseys for the Holiday Fundraiser

Some of you may know this, or have seen it on the podcast, but I collect autographed jerseys. And I'd like to auction off two of them to help @6.William.Bs and the Victory 90 holiday fundraiser (which has kind of stalled around $22,000).

I have an unopened, untouched autographed Dat Nguyen jersey that I found the other day, and I have a Willie Mays jersey (which has been open, but just hanging in my cabinet).

I'd like to start the bidding for both at $100. We'll take it through next Monday and I'll happily send it to the winners to make sure you have it by Christmas.

Let's use this thread for bids. I'll post pictures as well.

Tuesday update: @klloyd11 is in the lead for the Dat jersey at $600 -- I believe the auctioneer says, "thank you, sir" at this point -- and @sigeast02 has the lead for the Willie jersey at $250.
