DIS : 'Sunday Night Football' debut ratings sink 20%-plus from last year • 12:48 PM
  • Last night's debut of NFL Sunday Night Football on NBC (CMCSA +1%) was a ratings disappointment, with viewership falling off double-digits from last year's Sunday-night opener despite a close game and the ratings draw of the Dallas Cowboys.
  • The game (in which the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cowboys 20-17) hit a 4.7 rating and 14.81M viewers among adults 18-49, in early numbers.
  • That's a fall of 28% in ratings terms, and 23% in terms of viewers.
  • While those early figures lack West Coast numbers (on a game featuring an L.A. team), they at least look to be of a troubling piece with Thursday's season kickoff, also on NBC, where early ratings fell off 16% year-over-year.
