Five of my favorites that seem never to get shown.
1. THE ENEMY BELOW starring Robert Mitchum. My vote for the best WWII submarine movie out there, and probably the best Navy film altogether.
2. THE BLUE MAX starring George Peppard. The Best WWI fighter movie IMHO.
3. PORKCHOP HILL starring Gregory Peck. No former Grunt can pass by this greatest of studies of an infantry company commander in combat in Korea. Aggie Rip Torn has a cameo role as a fellow company commander.
4. THUNDERBOLT starring Robert Stack among others. This is an old one - from the late 40's, and it's a terrific story about a P-47 fighter group in the UK in WWII.
5. NEVER SO FEW starring Frank Sinatra and Steve McQueen. The epic OSS movie from WWII although I like the old 13 RUE MADELAINE with James Cagney almost as much.
