Our time started out and looked like it was going to be an easy day with mostly special teams. The players were split on the two fields working on kick-off return mostly. A few scattered groups of players were off working, like some O-linemen on the sled and some D-linemen working on firing off the ball and extending their hands out against the blocker to create separation.
Just about the time we thought they might kick us out, they decided to run a couple series of 11-on-11.
First team out saw freshman Kyler Murray take the snaps, joined by Tra Carson in the backfield. Offensive line stayed the same with (L-R) Gennesy, Sutherland, Erik McCoy, Cheek and Ifedi. Receivers were really flipping in and out but the group I saw included Josh Reynolds, Christian Kirk and Ricky Seals-Jones.
First defense saw Julien Obioha, Alonzo Williams and Jarrett Johnson on the line, backed by Shaan Washington and Richard Moore and 6, yes dime package defensive backs that included Armani Watts, Devonte Burns, Donovan Wilson, Noel Ellis, Devonte Harris and Brandon Williams.
That offense didn't move the ball much, one decent run by Carson between the right guard and tackle but the drive stalled and Bertolet kicked a 38 yard field goal.
Second offense that took the field saw Jake Hubenak at QB with freshman Kendall Bussey in the backfield with him.
Second O-line was (L-R) Koda Martin, Tank Davis, Brayden Talbert, Jermaine Elemunor and Ryan Lindblade
Receivers with the second group were Jeremy Tabuyo, Boone Niederhofer, Sabian Holmes
Defensively with the second group:
Alex Sezer and Victor Davis were joined by Nick Harvey with Justin Dunning and Justin Evans, the safeties. Davis and Harvey were the corners with Sezer the nickel back.
Qualen Cunningham, Reggie Chavis, Kingsley Keke and James Lockhart were the linemen with Claude George and A.J. Hilliard as the linebackers.
The second offensive team moved the ball less than the first and Bertolet again lined up, this time from 44 which they signaled as no good. He was however kicking into the narrow goalpost so I'm not sure what they were using to gauge if it would have been good or not. The one close scoring play was a fade thrown to Tabuyo in the endzone from Hubenak that was pretty well covered by Victor Davis and Justin Evans but still was nearly caught as Tabuyo layed out and had it jarred loose when he hit the ground.
They ended our session with some more of the Chavis toughness drill which we got some photos and video of that we will have up asap.
