From what I have been told, there has been one guy who has been at the top of the list and he remains there as A&M looks for a quick hire.
Ole Miss coach Chris Beard was targeted before Buzz even took the Maryland job (which is why I said this morning he got told to get to scootin') and A&M has made a hard push for him. The deal, if it is concluded, is said to include a significant NIL boost and a promise of improved facilities.
It does not look like Beard is playing A&M for an extension -- he legitimately seems to want to get home.
I don't want to say it is done or anything like that, but I have no indication they've talked to anyone else.
I don't want to give any guarantees, but from all the indications, things look highly favorable from A&M's perspective. This may get done quickly. From what I have heard from people who would definitely know, it did not take long to get the money together to make a move like this.
