First off, I want to introduce Dave Thackeray, who is joining us to cover hoops and baseball. I've known Dave since he was a little kid, so be nice to him.
Injury updates
Jhamon Ausbon should be back tomorrow and should start. That's a big deal for the Aggies, because he's able to push defenders deep, even if he doesn't get credit for it. Also, Kellen Mond has a strong rapport with him. This should help the passing game.
Jared Hocker is likely out this week. Look for Ryan McCollum and Connor Lanfear to start and Keaton Sutherland to get time at both guard spots.
Erik McCoy should go tomorrow. We've said it before, but just to be sure, Micheal Clemons, Clifford Chattman and Daniel LaCamera are almost certainly done for 2018.
On the Ole Miss side, Jordan Ta'amu will play but is dealing with an ankle injury that may limit his mobility. It did in the second half last week. WR Braylon Sanders, who has been putting up big numbers recently, is questionable at best for tomorrow with an ankle injury.
Mond may get a chance to get healthy
Ole Miss said all week that they're going to aim to stop the Aggie running game first and foremost (they had their best game of the year in that area last week against South Carolina, giving up 147 at less than 4 yards per clip, but gave up 269 to Auburn, 300 to Arkansas and 281 to LSU). That means there's probably going to be a lot of openings in Ole Miss' porous secondary for Kellen Mond and his receivers, as the Rebels are ranked 123rd against the pass. They tend to leave a lot of the middle of the field open due to their scheme, and that has led to quarterbacks having big games against them. Jake Bentley of South Carolina, who only completed 50% of his passes for less than 200 yards against A&M, hit 69% of his passes for 353 yards last weekend against Ole Miss.

Those around Shepherd keeping tight-lipped (Courtney)
The 6-6, 325-pound Shepherd had gone back and forth in the spring and summer between not having a favorite or leaning towards either the Longhorns or Aggies. He committed to the Longhorns after an unofficial visit in July. His best friend though, Kenyon Green, has not let up on wanting to play with Shepherd. This weekend Shepherd will return to Aggieland with Green. I spoke with Kenyon Green’s father, Henry Green, last night about the visit. He confirmed that both young men will be in attendance, and also said, “I better not comment any further about Javonne." It should be a fun weekend watching what transpires here.
Wydermyer recaps Miami trip, will visit A&M and Alabama (Courtney)
AY: You just returned from Miami official, first official. How was that?
JW: Everything was amazing…got there and met with the coaches; hotel was amazing. Everything was amazing.
AY: You told me earlier your working on a few more officials. Who are those with?
JW: A&M and Alabama.
AY: Has Miami set the bar high?
JW: They have. They sat down and spoke with and showed me how they would use me in their offense.
AY: What will it take for other programs to beat out that visit to Miami?
JW: Well of course, I am looking to see if they have my degree in business/criminal justice. It also depends on how much they use the tight end, and where they will have me at in the offense. Will they be moving me around? Not just making blocks, but also making routes, catching passes, stuff like that…I want to be used all around. That’s how they use me at Dickinson.
Top 2021 DE wants to hear from A&M (Fletch)
Samammish, Washington 2021 defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau has been a terror on the field for defenses. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end has offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Florida, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, and Washington. Tuimolau dominated in an easy win last weekend that made even a couple of college coaches’ head turn.
“It was a good team win, but we can still work on things such as reading blocks better and just being a leader on defense.”
Tuimoloau is a quite kid who has not focused much on recruiting, but A&M is one school that he would consider if offered.
“I don’t have any favorites in recruiting,” he said. “I am keeping an open mind and focused on the playoffs as we can go really far this year.”
Tuimolau does not have an offer, but he would be interested in hearing from them.
“If Texas A&M were to offer I would take a look at them,” he said. “I have not talked to any of their coaches though.”
Tuimolau projects as a five-star defensive end and projects to be one of the top players in the nation for 2021.
