So Lina Hidalgo...

One reality is the Governor did, in his order, give authority to the County Health Department.
Second reality is the 'waiting for felony trial' AG Paxton issued an opinion that in his opinion that the County Health Department did not have that authority. The reality is that is an 'opinion' and is not legally binding.
Not sure where this ends up but it certainly could cost taxpayers money if it goes to court.

The young County Health Department Director here refused prior to Paxton's Opinion to give orders saying he did not believe he had that authority. He issued recommendations which most of the schools followed.

Humble resumes activities but hasn’t announced when they will start in person school. They announce tomorrow. I am not sure which way they will go, but I know the superintendent is not a fan of the county trying to give orders. They had a complete plan ready to go for starting school and Hidalgo power tripped and threw everything in to disarray again.

Ridiculous watching all the “believe the science” people ignoring all the “science” showing kids need to be in school.

What is funny is she really showed her ass In her tantrum. Abbott didn’t reopen anything. He merely stated that the school districts not city or county politicians control the timing.

she throws a tantrum and claims Abbott is putting kids and parents lives at risk and playing politics with the issue. So now she is the only one capable of managing school districts and we shouldn’t trust the trustees we elected to run our schools? And if we don’t give in to her power grab WE are playing politics?

Yeah the whole thing is a cluster.

That being said, these districts went through weeks of planning to come up with their reopening plans. Only after they did so did she issue this order. Basically wasted everyone's time on those committees and school boards and also was disrespectful of all the superintendents imo.

Any court time should be paid by the individual fighting for their opinions, not the tax payers who don't get a voice.

A close family member of mine is in local city govt, she has never given them any heads up on orders, etc. They find out when everyone else does. From what I understand this is what happened to school districts also. No warning.

Dallas County pretty much going thru the same thing. Clay Jenkins is the Dallas Co version of Hidalgo.
Outlying districts within Dallas County (like Irving, Plano, Coppell, etc) are resuming summer conditioning today.

Who would have guessed the zero experience county judge telling the most inept school district in the state what to do would be chaos?

HISD teachers are overly stressed about buying their own PPE, hand sanitizer, etc. Our local private schools for PreK are also a joke with no plan outlined on how things would change at all when we all know those little germ monsters are the primary driver of virus in normal times. Just overall a complete mess.

HISD is a disaster but they are not fighting her. Spring Branch and other good districts are fighting her and looks like they won.

I trust the SBISD board to decide. Hidalgo not at all

If this was a white, male, republican, y'all would be praising their leadership and determination. Disagree with her politics all you want, but y'all are hypocritical af.

Bullshit.

She's a total dilettante puppet who is completely unqualified for the position she's in. Her entire handling of this has been completely nonsensical and unsupported by the data.

Plano is not Dallas county. It’s Collin county. DC can fvck right off.

Ooooh, the “y’all must be racists if you disagree” defense is so fresh. Thank you for your well-thought out contribution to the topic.

Not that you care because your mind is clearly made, but these same people disagreeing in this thread have voiced the same disagreement with Dr. Fauci, whom is a white male.

Seems they are in fact disagreeing with her politics, which makes them consistent rather than “hypocritical af”.

You're not a particularly bright person are you?

There's nothing racist about the joke. Dora is a child playing at adult things just like Lina, hence the nickname. Plus, they pretty much have the same hairstyle.

It doesn't matter if there is anything racist about it, because that's the playbook in deflecting the truth. I guess going forward everything someone doesn't like is painted as racist. Pretty sad.

I didn't call anyone a racist there. I said "hypocrites". You just slipped up and showed your cards.
