So the POS that drove through the parade was just released on $1000 bail for running over his girlfriend. Judge should fry for that one

This is a good example of what happens when the left's push for bail reform is put into action. The same people pushing for it are the same people who want to defund and emasculate the police and decriminalize crime. And yes, it's a political issue. Liberal DAs and judges are driving it and it's happening all over the country.

I think you a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of bail. If you say this guy should not have had a bail, that at least makes sense.

I know how bail works. From your link, bail is set (in part) according to ".....the type of crime alleged, the "dangerousness" of defendants, and the safety of the community." This guy was out on $1,000 bond for attempting to kill a woman in the same vehicle he mowed parade-goers down in. $1,000 seems extremely low for the particular charge, which is the point.

Oh it is way too low. No doubt. And they admitted it.

But the point is bail isnt to keep people locked up. It’s to ensure they show up for court. That’s why the charge matters. People may be willing to forfeit some small amount of money to run for it if the crime is such that the punishment is severe.

Sure this guys bail for that crime was way too low. But that’s not what caused this. If it were 5 or 10k he’d have used a bondsman or family and gotten out just the same.

is the judge elected or state/federally appointed? go after him with your votes and campaign donations to his opponents, call your state representatives and tell them this is bullshit and demand accountability.

assuming of course you live in Wisconsin, otherwise it's not our problem. going after elected officials that haven't broken any laws is a slippery slope we don't need to be treading to heavily on imo.
