Not much to report as people are being really quiet and concentrating on the recruits. The names mentioned are the ones I’m still hearing, along with Barry Odom from Arkansas.
I said earlier today I expect the process to be quick because 1) Jimbo knew this was a real possibility and Elko kept him in the loop the whole way and 2) you want it done by Wednesday. So they weren’t starting from zero at 6 pm yesterday.
One thing that has been made clear to the candidates: they won’t be bringing a lot of their guys. Most of the assistants are untouchable and that’s not subject to negotiation. I took that to mean, in particular, Terry Price, Elijah Robinson and Tyler Santucci. That shouldn’t be that big of a deal because they’re top notch position coaches, but the fit will be key.
One personal observation: the fact that there hasn’t been anyone named makes me think it’ll be an outsider. And there’s your duh comment of the night.
