I am part of a non-profit organization. For several reasons that i don't want to go into here, we are now unable to get funds from our current bank account. There isn't much money in there right now,.so that part isn't a big deal. We are about to start receiving checks for our next big event and we will need to access that money in a short time period. We need a new bank account.
We've been told that our organization wasn't initially set up right and we need a tax exempt ID to get a new bank account. They also said we will not be able to do this under the old organization name because it is on the other account.
can that be true? I didn't know our organization name could basically become property of our old bank account. It would kill years of work to be forced to change the name now.
any info appreciated.
