The Musers on The Ticket were discussing NBA play-in games the other day. Craig Miller hates them, but he's not real bright to begin with.
I like them fine, but I wouldn't want to go any deeper down the standings. I really like the format because it gives teams big incentives to:
- finish in the top 6 in the conference, because you avoid play-in games,
- or if not, finish in the top 2 of the 4 team that make the play-in, because you just have to win 1 of 2 games to make the playoffs,
- or if not, finish in the bottom 2 of the 4 teams, because it's much better than missing the play-in entirely.
