When A&M signed only 2 commits on the defensive side in the entire recruiting class, including Derek Lechler (not Shane). How did that happen? It's always fascinated me and was possibly the first major sign Slocum was overmatched vs Mack Brown. This was the infamous Chip Ambres/Choo Freeman class, who never showed up but their oft rumored return from MLB seemed to provide a measure of false hope for the fanbase for at least 3-4 more years. Side note, this class also produced Bethel Johnson, Robert Ferguson, and Jamaar Toombs on offense.
