At 5-1 we are halfway through the regular season. Here are my top storylines for the year so far.

1. The Offensive Line. They've become so good we have almost forgotten how far they have come this year. This is the top storyline because to take this monumental change in performance that has transformed this team and made every other improvement in (even on defense) to this team possible. Our offensive line for years was miserable. I had hoped for adequate. They are more than that. Our quarterback, no matter the name, has time. Our running backs, no matter the name, have push and holes to run through. It keeps our defense off the field and results in opposing team having poor field position. It changes everything.

2. Marcel Reed. The backup QB comes in and takes us to four victories, to include two SEC wins. Thank you Mr. Reed. It wasn't always pretty, but it was always good enough. Quarterback depth is a rare luxury in the era of NIL. We have it.

3. The Defensive Line. Has improved every game and is emerging into a dominant NCAA force. Yes, our DBs look good too, but in part that's because the DL pressuring QBs have made things easier for them.

4. Midway through the season the Aggies will be ranked in the upper mid-teens and are now in playoff contention. Smoke em if you got em.

5. What could have been. Notre Dame was a winnable game and the loss remains frustrating. Had we won that game, we'd be 6-0, in the top 5 and regarded as a playoff shoe in. Argggh!
