Question for you guys whose sons have recently played middle school football:
My son is in 7th grade in Prosper and is starting football right now, at school. He’s big for his age - 5’9” and 140 pounds, slender but strong.
Anyways, so on Tuesday, the coaches told the boys (~50 kids to be split into A and B teams) to pick an offensive position that they want to play (he chose WR).
Wednesday, the coaches told them to pick a defensive position - he picked DE.
That was it…
When I was in 7th grade, everybody put on a helmet, did drills, ran laps, and they assigned us our positions.
My question is, how does this work when they let all the boys choose their own O and D positions without any evaluation?
First game is 9/5/23…
