We have a kid working for us that is an admitted liberal and is afflicted with true TDS. Talking to him at lunch last week about how MSM is so anti-conservative it became very apparent to him I was correct. He was not aware that Trump had been nominated 3 times for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize or that the GDP grew by 33% in the 3rd quarter. And it is not because he does not keep up with the news. Its just the outlets he chooses. It truly scares me what the MSM is enabling these days.

There still are massive restrictions in CA, NY and MI. The bar scene in NY is hanging on by a string because they are not allowed to run fully, so bad a lock down will kill a large majority of the small business bars. Just look at the unemployment rates between red and blue states, 3-4 point difference on average.

I still find it funny (maybe not so much) that they couldn't put one and one together that killing the tax breaks was essentially a tax increase across the board. Hate the rich all you want, but it was done against the progressive tax scale we have so yes the rich get a tax break but so do the lower and middle class. Biden never once mentioned keeping the breaks for those groups so there is your tax increase if you can put one and one together.

Maybe Trump wouldn't have had to tout the nominations if the media could be honest with what was going on in the world. He was never going to win one, he isn't a liberal. But to not give him some credit is intellectually dishonest.

I understand how the numbers work. But in the middle of an ongoing pandemic which caused the previous quarter's loss the investors must feel pretty good about the economy and surrounding factors. I still think 33% growth is better than say 2% growth in the same situation.

Two points:
1. We had a country wide shutdown in the second quarter 2020 that lasted for a little over one month. The shutdown last longer in several larger states and we gradually reopened over the remainder of the second quarter. The 33 % GDP growth in the third quarter is growth of the economy over the second quarter. The economy in the third quarter 2020 was still way down from the economy in the third quarter 2019.
2. I was not familiar with how the process works but anyone can google and learn quickly. There are thousands and thousands of persons that can nominate an individual or organization for consideration. If you are one of these thousands all that is necessary is to fill out an on line application. Those names that are nominated are not released to the public for 50 years. The Noble Peace Committee does not confirm nor deny that an individual or organization has been nominated. This is to insure that no honor accrues to an individual or organization simply for being nominated . We do know that 318 nominations were submitted in 2020 which is the second highest number in history.
An politician in Norway that sits in their assembly can nominate anyone or organization then leak their submittal to the press. A far right wing politician claimed on September 9 , 2020 that he nominated Trump for the 2020 Noble Peace prize. A politician from Sweden also said he nominated Trump for this same 2020 Peace prize. Through out his presidency Trump has lobbied for a Noble Peace Prize.
As a side note Stalin was nominated for the Peace prize in 1945 and 1948. Also Mussolini was nominated for the Noble Peace prize in 1935. Hitler was also nominated for the Noble Peace prize in 1939. I only include this information to illustrate that anyone can be nominated . By the way the Hitler nomination was later withdrawn that year.
