My early impressions...
1. RT could be a concern. I'm the least comfortable with it on the OL.
2. Hard to judge Reed when there are a lot of "air" tackles and sacks. More accurate on some stuff, but I agree with Mark in that his mechanics have to be more consistent.
3. Receivers as a group definitely appear to more ability to make plays. Whether that translates to going against other jerseys, we'll see...
4. Still believe our RBs are solid. Spring games rarely highlight them and no lines didn't help.
5. Saw very few true busts from the secondary which was encouraging. A lot of catches were just better plays by the offense. The pass offs in the zones and underneath drops by the backers were noteworthy.
6. Still like to add another DT for more girth inside but I was impressed nonetheless. Hicks, Regis and friends looked good.
7. The edges look quick and explosive. My only question is how do they hold up in run support?
8. The backers were just simply outstanding from I watched. I saw very little of gap-jumping or poor run fits of last season. The coverages were mostly solid as well.
Overall, I have to agree with Coach Elko. Only halftime. Lots to fix before the season. As far the portal goes, I would look DT, big WR, RT, and possibly another outside CB.
