Would like to see some pics of how folks did this year and any interesting stories.
To start, I didn’t make it out for deer this year, but was fortunate enough to finish up my FNAWS sheep slam the week of Thanksgiving.
In a nutshell, miraculously got drawn for RM bighorn tag in MT. Planned to use a guide that had mules in the unit. On the first night he had a propane heater leak in his trailer and it ignited in a flash explosion. Got burned up really bad. After we trucked him out of the wilderness and got him to a hospital where he was then flown out to Utah, my buddy and I threw a Hail Mary with going back out into the unit on foot using the guide’s truck that his family graciously allowed us to borrow. Love the people up there in MT (not the transplants).
Somehow got it done though and got a ram just in time to make it home for my son’s first Thanksgiving with the family. Wasn’t the huge ram I was after that we had seen on the first day, but was a solid old ram (green scored 180 7/8”) and couldn’t be happier considering the circumstances that were faced. Was a truly humbling experience. Here are a couple of pics.
