I appreciated Herbie’s comments and emotions. I don’t think it was scripted, he’s not that good of an actor and it clearly shook Maria Taylor and Desmond. He was right, we have to do better for our people, all people. I am not a liberal nor do I support BLM. Although I do care about people and their thoughts, fears and feelings.
So everybody is now obligated to express their caring for each other’s thoughts, fears and feelings? Is that what this campaign is about? Good, maybe it will be over soon.

Speaking personally, I have much empathy for social injustices, especially for the ones largely ignored because they can't be packaged, branded, and marketed for political gain.

Read Walter Williams column today and he is right on the money. Lots of my kinfolks didn't have jack shit---electricity, running water, plumbing (inside or outside), telephone, told time with a stick of cord wood on the front porch, automobiles, or pavement for that matter. If my aunt was having a baby one of her kids had to run up Brooks (their horse) and ride to a phone and call Dr. Dunn so he could come out in a buggy.
I have ZERO respect for Herbstreit and will never listen to him again.

I don’t know who those white folks in the pictures are ...but I think it’s safe to say they didn’t spend their youths fearing police profiling and harassment bet...they just got shot while unarmed and why isn’t the the white community outraged by their deaths ...

I bet the vast majority of those dumb asses resisted arrest or in some way fought the police that shot them. Just like every video from Michael Brown the thief that just robbed a store to the rapist that was recently fighting police and pulling a knife.
I’m also pretty confident all of those individuals likely justified their actions as the police were likely targeting them for breaking a law they don’t agree with.
You fight a guy with a gun you aren’t going to win. You pull a gun or a knife on a guy with a gun one of you is going to win. I’d prefer the one my tax dollars are supporting
Any proof cops don’t profile white kids or Hispanic kids? Also i guess George Floyd was hopped on fentanyl and held a gun to woman’s stomach in front of her kids because of cops. Jacob Blake digitally raped a woman in front of her kids, resisted arrest with a weapon because of racism.
An issue here is when you bring up that there are only a handful of unarmed black men shot in the country by cops out of hundreds of thousands of interactions the response is people live in fear of being killed and/or are being harassed.
1. If that’s the case then why are the handful of people resisting arrest if they’re scared instead of brazenly fighting it?
2. Why are we having cities destroyed over alleged harassment when it’s the video of the cops spawning everything?
I’m all for punishing cops that do wrong and no doubt they exist. I don’t agree with no knock warrants. I don’t agree with a policy of targeting one race over another. I also understand statistically young black males in the inner city commit a disproportionate amount of crimes. If you’re a cop and you’ve seen something a majority is the time it’s impossible to ignore. We are told we need to listen to people’s lived experiences? What about the police who risk their lives every day and aren’t racist?
This is an impossible situation to get to zero. Some unarmed, violent, criminals a lot of which are on drugs and resisting arrest are going to get shot. I would prefer they didn’t. I also think the idea that there is some national mandate for white cops to harass black people is false and done irreparable harm to race relations in this country. I hope we can figure it out but as long as race can be weaponized for power it won’t be.

Catching up on my Game Day. I didn’t know Herbstreit broke down on the show. I hadn’t seen until now and I did get to see it in context of the show. The players contribution to the show gave great perspective that the issues are far broader than unjust policing.
And, yeah, Maria Taylor’s and Desmond’s reaction shows how impactful it is for those who live with dark skin every day.
