That was about as bad is it could possibly be. A&M is getting flat-out whipped and getting screwed by the officials to boot. It's really the disaster scenario.
On offense, Marcel Reed is 11-13 for 80 yards. Everything after the first drive has been short, and he's been under constant pressure. The offensive line cannot get a push. Going for it on 4th and 1 at the 11 was a mistake. You take the points. Amari Daniels has been stuffed anytime he tries to run up the middle, even though there's some success running it outside.
The game really changed when Reed threw the interception. He was pressing and made a terrible mistake, and that killed the momentum A&M had. Since then, they've been on their heels.
The defense has been terrible. Texas is averaging 7 yards a play. They've gotten pressure, but Ewers has either eluded it or been able to run. He's hit a couple of passes down the field where A&M defenders just quit running. Bryce Anderson should have had an interception, but he let it go through his hands for a catch for Texas.
The rush defense has been terrible. Forget running outside; Texas is doing exactly Auburn did and is running the ball right up the middle. A&M has frequently either left the middle open or misses tackles to let them loose. A&M played the quick passes to the outside well, so Texas used A&M's speed against them and started throwing quick passes inside. Cashius Howell has been called for two 15-yard penalties (one of which was garbage).
The officiating has played a critical role in this game, but at this point, it's almost exepcted that they're going to suck. SEC officials are horrible. They missed a hold on Ewers' big run, and certainly blew the targeting call.
But the big thing right now is that Texas is just tougher than A&M is. For a group that was supposed to be soft, they've taken it right to the Aggies the way I expected A&M would do to them. If that's not a challenge to their collective manhood, I don't know what is.
