Aggies in the driver's seat for two 5-stars (on defense)?
Two of the primary targets on A&M's board (along with half the country) are Baltimore safety Jireh Edwards and Spring Valley (Ca.) ATH Brandon Arrington. I originally had Arrington as a wideout, but that's my mistake. He's likely a corner at the next level, playing some offense and special teams. Anyway, both are 5-stars; Arrington is the #11 player overall and the top ATH, while Edwards is #16 overall and the #2 safety. Suffice it to say that they're both really good prospects.
And, as of right now, it looks like A&M leads for both.
Arrington hasn't been shy about saying how much he likes A&M and has indicated that he already has a destination in mind before he takes his official visits. It seems like this one is really a fight between USC and A&M at this point, though that can always change via NIL or official visits.
Edwards has also publicly stated that A&M leads for him and people in the know have told us that they also believe the Aggies are the favorites, and maybe by a considerable amount as we head into spring practice.
Adding two elite prospects to the secondary would certainly help for next year. The Aggies will lose Will Lee, Tyreek Chappell, Bryce Anderson and Jarred Kerr, and Dalton Brooks, Marcus Ratcliffe and Dezz Ricks will all be draft eligible. And who knows what the portal could cause. Adding two players that already ready prototype size for their positions (Edwards is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds; Arrington is 6-foot-3 and 180) would be huge. Them being 5-stars would not suck either.
An Aggie receiver making a move?
We've heard from some folks in the know that one of the redshirt freshman receivers has made a jump forward between the end of last season and the start of spring ball: Ashton Bethel-Roman. He seemed like the best and most prepared of the freshmen not named Terry Bussey last year, and he's apparently had a really good offseason to this point. I had been putting him as a rotation player out of the hope he'd improve over what he started last season, and apparently he has already.
Aggies make final 3 for Louisiana DT
In a mild surprise, A&M has made the list of finalists for Monroe, La. DT Dylan Berymon. More interestingly, LSU didn't. It's down to USC, Texas and the Aggies. Honestly, I think A&M still has a ton of ground to make up here. Texas probably leads with USC also in the mix. But, truth be told, I wasn't even paying attention to Berymon because I didn't think the Aggies were even a factor. Maybe they are now. Berymon has a build like Red Bryant, so it's pretty understandable why someone would want him as a guy to plug up the running game.
Aggies trending for 4-star RB?
Fairburn, Ga. RB Carsyn Baker is the first running back target on A&M's board to announce an official visit to Aggieland, and he's someone Trooper Taylor has turned up the heat for. Baker is a power back, already at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, and the Aggies would love to team a back like that with someone like a KJ Edwards, who is smaller and faster (5-foot-10, 175 pounds). The programs getting officials from him are stout: nearby Ohio State, FSU and Clemson. He's also got serious interest in nearby Georgia. Still, the Aggies have put in the work and will get him on campus last, on June 20. The Aggies could sure use a couple of backs for 2026, with both Le'Veon Moss and Amari Daniels heading out the door.
Brown cuts his list to two, sets commitment date for July 4
Baton Rouge University Lab DT Lamar Brown has cut his list to two teams, A&M and LSU. The Tigers have a very significant lead at this point, but he is taking an official visit to A&M in June and says he has not decided between the two schools. We all know it'll be a tough pull to get a Baton Rouge kid that LSU wants away from town, but A&M will give it a run.

A&M baseball releases first injury report
Caden Sorrell is OUT for the Alabama series, as I posted earlier in the week. Closer Josh Stewart may be getting closer to a return, as he's listed as doubtful. We almost certainly won't see him this weekend, but maybe in the next couple of weeks.
