“We played a bad game. We coached a bad game. We have to own it.”

We had a bad plan (on defense). Said the offensive game plan was also really bad, and takes responsibility for both.

“We didn’t do the things we needed to do.”

Says everything they want is still ahead of us if they play good football, and is confident on how they’ll bounce back.

We did a really bad job of realizing that we were tackling a tight end, not a quarterback. 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, that’s Tre Watson.

Says they tackled Sellers too high and he was able to brush off the tacklers.

Says that Shemar Turner is not getting the message on stopping penalties “because it is clearly not working.”

Says they’ll look at “everything on the table” at running back, but EJ will be the primary backup.

Says they did not stay sharp in the last bye week and that will be stressed this week, but the players will probably be hungry after what happened Saturday.

Says a Reuben Owens return is still unlikely, and that he’s just now starting to test his ankle.

Reminds everyone that Terry Bussey is still a freshman and that’s lost on a lot of people. “Every freshman who steps into college football has development that’s needed,” and they’re going to keep him at receiver — and find ways to get him the ball “in a way the whole world doesn’t know what’s coming.”

“We’ve got to get a point around here where we can fix problems through victory. You don't want to be the program that loses to figure out the problems.”

Says they knew they’d have to take the game from SC and it didn’t get done, but thinks they’ll respond well. “We’re built to respond well to things like this.”

Says that the team should be able to get half a yard on 4th and short. The play calls could be better. “Those are what eat me alive.”

“You hate when you see kids like that (Moss and Chappell) have adversity. You want them to have a clear path. And sometimes you do everything right and still have adversity hit.”
