I've got an idea for an Aggie Yell golf trip in the spring, late March or April. The Ticket plays commercials for Lajitas Golf Resort on the Texas / Mexico border between Big Bend State Park and Big Bend National Park. They have regular private jet service from Dallas to Lajitas but currently they do not have any regular service out of Houston. If we can get a group of 26-30 players they will provide us with a private jet from Houston to the Lajita airport for a few days of golf. Follows is a link to their website and a video of the facility:

Watch Video: Lajitas Golf Resort

Follows is an estimate of what all is involved:

3 days and 2 nights, single room accommodations, round trip airfare from Houston to Lajitas, 18 holes of golf per day where the afternoons are open for additional golf, zip line, shooting or horseback riding.

$1,525 per person plus tax

Additional golf is $85 for an additional 18 holes or $47 for an additional 9 holes of same day replay

Additional options for afternoon, which would need to be planned in advance include:
  • Zip line tour in Quiet Canyon - 9 zip lines, 8,172 ft with 1,000 elevation drop … ( approximately 2.5 - 3 hours ) – $150 per person
  • Shooting: Sporting clays, 3 gun combat ( AR 15, shotgun, handgun ), cowboy action shoot ( 6 shooter / shotgun ) each $125 per person
  • Equestrian -( Trail rides – average $125 per person … several options on this though )
A meal plan is available which includes lunch and dinner on day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 2, breakfast and lunch on day 3. A 4 course meal is served at night with filet mignon, salmon and other items. The meal plan is $350 per person. If you are not interested in the meal plan you just order off the regular menu. Either way I've been told the food is great dining. And there is a bar on property for plenty of drinking.

The private jet they use is currently occupied every other weekend for their regularly scheduled service out of Dallas. Please post here if this is something that would interest you. If there is adequate initial interest a date can be picked and then the staff at Lajitas will prepare a PDF for the event that can be distribute to the group. Each person would contact the resort directly to pay their deposit. But the first step is getting a commitment from enough people to cover the private jet. The plane seats 30 but we would need to have at least 26 players to get the trip up and running. I know this would be a great get away. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in. Thanks.
