Assuming Alberts was on top of the situation and figured out Schloss's plan early on. It certainly depends on when he figured it out. But, if it became apparent to Alberts at any point during the CWS he would have needed to let it play out. Schloss probably anticipated that Alberts would find out and blow it up during the CWS. Thus, giving Schloss the excuse of everything is Alberts fault and now I'm leaving due to him being an overbearing a-hole. And, the entire team and all aggie fans would have blamed any CWS elimination on Alberts. This would give Schloss the ammo he needed to successfully recruit any current player or recruit. Thus, Alberts best plan was to let it play out and supporting the team throughout the CWS. Meanwhile he needed to be having as many private convos as possible with potential head coach replacements so he could act quickly. Clock is ticking in regards to naming a replacement and this needs to happen asap, otherwise, Alberts just had his head in the sand and was clueless.

Time will tell as to whether Alberts was playing chess while Schloss was playing checkers, or vice versa.
