So the other cooking thread got me to thinking. What is a dish or dishes that someone in your family, who has passed on, made that you miss and can’t replicate?
For me it’s my grandmothers roasted potatoes and pork loin. She would half the potatoes and coat them in the pork loin drippings so that the outsides carmelized and crisped while the insides stayed perfectly cooked. A little butter and sour cream on that! Damn.
I can cook a mean pork loin, but I’ve never been able to get those taters cooked like I remember them. Always overdone and dry when I try it.
