One sleep away from opening day.
I will be there will you?
This season I plan on continuing to host a thread. But now with two kiddos I will likely step back from play by play posts except for big games.
Reminder, my opinions are my own and sourced only from watching the Aggies play I don’t have time to keep up much with what else is being put out there. So if you know something, share but don’t get mad at me if I don’t know something.
My gut tells me we will be dominant at the plate. Time will tell on the mound, with a few new names floating around will be interesting to see who steps up. I do think Weiner was an elite pitching coach that could get the most out of young college guys. Sad to see himself hitch the wagon to schloss but I’m sure he would eventually get the itch for the top spot and wouldn’t have been around for long. Would have felt even better if Asch got another season but it is what it is. Defensively we played solid last year, better than the previous but there is still room to improve.
Specific things I’m looking for….
Prager never gave me the warm and fuzzy feeling that I could confidently say he is dominant, no doubt Friday Ace. I think it was wise for him to come back but need to see that he has more to give and last year wasn’t a ceiling. I felt he had the Aschenbeck security blanket. And I was willing to say the combo of the two of them together was dominant on a Friday night.
Can Grahovac take the next step and be a top notch 3B. I feel there was a significant drop off from Werner. I doubt Gavin will ever have that arm but develop the reads and reactions and keep a few more balls infront of you to give you time for a clean throw across and I’ll take it.
Wanna see a lock down/every day 1B established. I know we got a transfer in so time will tell on my opinion of that.
I’m confident in the gets for catcher and 2B and maybe Kent can settle down now that Schloss is gone.
I could go on but just ready to get that first pitch on the way.
