Unlike the one-pony-show football factories of the world....

(but always happy to educate the SEC newbees)

2005 Baseball World Series Runner-Up
2006 B-Ball NC
2006 Football BCS-NC
2007 B-Ball NC
The ONLY school to EVER hold both titles in the same season or calandar year.
The last school to hold B-2-B B-Ball NC's before UF was Duke in 1991-92.
The last SEC school to hold B-2-B B-Ball NC's was UK in 1948-49

2010-11 Elite 8 - SEC-C's
2011-12 Elite 8
2012-13 Elite 8 - SEC-C's
2013-14 Currently 15-2, 5-0 SEC and #6 Ranked

I won't go into the recent Gator Track and Gymnastics NC's.

OG Octavious Jackson 6-4 304 rsFr -- Ga. is done. He brought a HS shoulder

injury with him to UF, and after a Jan. surgery, they decided that his playing days

are over. UF will apply for a hardship scholarship for him so he stays in school,

but doesn't count against UF's 85 ship limit, but he stays either way. It's a darn

shame that he can't play, but at least he'll still have a shot at a great education.

Man Down -- Man Up

Meet new Gator, Rivals #2 DT Thomas Holley 6-4 303 from Brooklyn, NY - UA-AA

"The Gator coaches say they see a mix of Dominique Easley and Sharrif Floyd

in me. But hopefully I can do more than just be like them. The people you look

up to, you always want to be better than them." -- Easley & Floyd are HS 5 stars,

and NFL 1st rounders, so I really do hope that he's better than them...
02
(iG)

"That's what I strive for. I want to dominate my freshman year, become one of the

faces of the SEC and get ready for the NFL draft. I always like to set goals, and

those are mine." -- Well YEE-HAW! Come on down Mr Holley....

(signing this guy might turn out better than getting dual threat QB's Grier and Harris)

Speaking of Basketball, #3 UF, 22-2, 11-0 SEC

The Gator's Senior B-Ball C Patric Young was announced as a CLASS Finalist.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, is

given to the senior who represents college basketball in a positive light both on

and off court through scholastic excellence and community involvement.

On the day after Young's big hustle play against Tennessee made the rounds on

YouTube, he was named as one of 10 finalists for college basketball's senior

CLASS award. (unlike all of those kensucky 1 & done 5 stars)

? Former Gator SG Bradley Beal scored a career-high 37 pts in the Wizards'

close 92-89 loss to the Grizzlies. While former Gator PG Nick Calathes finished

with 18 pts, 7 asts and 6 rebs for the winning Grizzlies.

? And in another Gator vs Gator battle; former Gator center Joakim Noah posted

his 4th career-triple double (19 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists), lifting the Bulls

to a 100-85 win over PF Al Horford's Atlanta Hawks.

Hey, InstaGATOR. I can't remember so can you tell me if it was UF's Football or
Baseball team that last had a losing season?

smile.r191677.gif

==========================================================

UF football suffered the worst list of season injuries in NCAA or UF history.
72 starts lost to injury.
29 players lost for at least 1/2 of a game.
13 starters lost for the season, across the course of the season.
Only 5 players started ever game at their norman position.
Guano Occurs

As to the 2013 Gator Baseball:

There is no question that 2013 fell below standards for a Florida baseball team

that has grown accustomed to success. Following 3 consecutive trips to the

College World Series, the Gators struggled mightily to extend their season

beyond the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

In hindsight, the Gators had every reason to stumble in 2013. It was the
product of two years in which Gator coach Kevin O'Sullivan
lost a combined 28 players to the MLB Draft.
05

The departures have been part-blessing, part-curse for O'Sullivan. He has
watched some of his best players leave, but the track record of developing
Pro prospects
has led to one top-notch recruiting class after another.
16

A 15-person freshman class is loaded with power at the plate and live arms
on the mound.O'Sullivan says the strength of his 2014 team will be its athleticism.

So as with the football team, we'll just wait and see how 2014 works out for them.

Re: Path to SEC All Sports and the Director's Cup

The #23 Gator's begin the 2014 season, the 100th season of UF baseball,

again ranked in the Baseball America preseason Top 25 poll released Monday.

UF finished last season at 29-30 and unranked after advancing to the NCAA

Regional's for the sixth year in a row. The Gator's join 7 other SEC programs

in the poll: #7 SCa, #8 MsSt, #9 LSU, #10 VU, #21 UA, #24 aTm, #25 Ark.

In another poll: Florida is ranked 16th in Collegiate Baseball's Fabulous 40 NCAA

Division I Preseason Poll released Friday. It marks the sixth-straight season coach

Kevin O'Sullivan's club has been ranked during the preseason in the nation's oldest

college baseball poll, which began in 1958. The Gator's were No. 25 in 2009,

No. 9 in 2010, No. 2 in 2011, No. 1 in 2012 and No. 24 last season.
The Gator's have reached the College World Series in 3 of the past 4 seasons.

2-14-14 - Gator baseball started their season off with a 4-0 Shutout of Mary-land.
08

So, what kind of schedule does the Gator Baseball team face, a load of patsy teams?

UF has more than half of its games vs. opponents who advanced to the 2013 NCAA

Tournament, including home series against Ark, Conn, LSU and VU, and will have

4 series totaling 12 games against teams that reached Super Regional's, one of which

advanced to Omaha. 21 of UF's 56 games during the regular season will be against

squads listed in the Collegiate Baseball poll.

========

The #3 Gator's head to a frenzied Rupp tonight to take on kensucky and Cal-cheat.

ESPN's Game Day will be there to add to the chaos. (I always wonder how much it

costs to buy off one or more of the officials. The less critical claim that they are just

scared of that maniac home crowd, and so that affects their calls)
15

----------

#1 ranked Gator Women's Gymnastics team out points Ark for their 6th straight

win, as Hunter nails another Gator perfect 10 score (vault).

-----------------

#1 Florida's Women's Softball team swept a pair of games against Seattle and Hawaii

on Friday on the first day of the Easton Desert Classic at Eller Media Stadium in Vegas.

UF took the 1st game against SU, 8-1, and won the 2nd game over the Rainbow Wahine

by mercy rule, 11-1 (5 innings). Senior pitcher Hannah Rogers earned her 100th career

victory as a Gator in the win over Hawaii.

8 SEC's in Top 25 Poll: 1.UF, 2.Tn, 6. UA, 9. UK, 11. aTm, 17. UGA, 18. Mizz, 21. LSU

----------------

#4 Florida Women's Lacrosse lost to the defending Natl. Champ, @ NC. to open the
2014 season - That NC team only lost by 1 score to the U.S Team in Orlando 2 weeks
ago. The rest of the SEC has yet to field a Women's Lacrosse team, so UF leads the way
again,,, as usual.
02

"This loss said more about North Carolina's strength than it did about Florida's weakness.

Though Florida is a young team, they're extremely talented and have a deep bench. With

experienced leaders in both Gilroy and classmate Nora Barry, the Gators have ample time

to put the pieces together in Gainesville." -- women.insidelacrosse.com

#10 Florida Women's Soccer finished the season at 19-5-1

#15 Florida Women's Volleyball finished the season at 28-4.

One Pony Shows can become pretty boring imoho....
16

Football, Basketball, and Baseball will always be the Big 3, but if you can compete,
the other 20 sports can be a real nice break to follow.

Re: Follow-up: 2 year-old attention spans not needed here

A capacity crowd of 24,425 at Rupp was frenzied from the opening tip.

The entire crowd was asked to, and did, stand up for the entire game.

Senior Night at Rupp Arena in Kentucky, with ZERO Kentucky Sr starters.
02

However, UF's 4 Sr starters took care of business, #3 UF 69 - 59 UK #14.

The last Gator team to win at Rupp, also won a NC in 2007. Nice thought...

#3 UF 23-2, 12-0 SEC, with the Regular Season SEC Championship in da-bag.

A 1-Seed is Likely. They are on a 17 game win streak, and a 29 game home win

streak. Both of those streaks are UF School Records BTW.

"I think we have a lot of guys that believe in each other," PF Yeguete said afterward.

I think we believe that we can make plays down the stretch and we just try to stay in

the moment and stay in the game and just keep going and playing defense." UF won

with flawless execution down the stretch, outscoring Kentucky 22-11 in the final 8:14.

Sr SF Prather - 24 pts, Sr PG Wilbekin 23 pts, while going 11 of 12 at the FT line.

C J.Randle had 13 pts, 13 rbs, for his 13th double-double,,, unlucky & not good enough.

J.Calipari -- "What they did, they've done, I'm guessing 10 games this year, where,

with 5 minutes to go, 4 minutes to go, 3 minutes to go, it's anybody's ball game. Then

they just grind better than the other team grinds it. They were just too experienced

for us down the stretch." (and your mouth-running to the refs didn't help Cal-cheat)

Hey Jon, that's the Major difference between having
4th year STUDENT/athletes,

and a roster full of freshmen NBA One & Done, MickyD AA's....

NOW SIDD-DOWN.....
08

PS

The officials were again a 'brisk intake of air' but they didn't do enough to help

UK get a win this time, thus ending UK's 22 game home win streak was 'sweet.'

PSS

PG Taurean Green -- PG Scottie Wilbekin, the toughest guys on the floor.

SF Corey Brewer -- SF Casey Prather, both with octopus arms from Tenn.

PF Joakim Noah -- PF Will Yeguete, the 'French Connections.'

C Al Horford -- C Patric Young, both are 'physical' specimens.

SG Lee Humphrey -- SG Michael Frazer II - Stake in the heart 3 pt shooters.

While this group doesn't have the 04's raw talent, they do have the GRIT.

So in this case, it's not as important how many points WE can score, it's

more important how many points WE allow them to score. (UT 58, UK 59)
UF's season PPG allowed average is 57.9 pts.

==================

Florida had 7 event wins this weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational.

While junior sprinter Hugh Graham Jr, and the Florida men's 800m crew

highlighted the day in Ames, while freshman Rebekah Greene stood out for

the Gators in the mile at the Husky Classic in Seattle. In NYC, Sr. distance
runner Cory McGee took to the track at the Millrose Games in the iconic
Wanamaker Mile.

So despite the Gators being scattered across the country for various other
competitions this weekend, Florida still put together 2nd place team
standings on both the women's (98) and men's (83) sides at the TAMU Invite,
featuring UF, aTm, Cal-St, Clem, UGA, Ok, Rice & TxSt.

=============

The #1 UF 10-0 softball team earned 2 more wins at the Easton Desert Classic

on Sat, defeating Ohio State 19-2 (5 innings - mercy rule) and Cal-St 6-0.

Gator's doing well in the NBA:

PF-C Udonis Haslem, 3x NBA-C and still playing with the James/Wade Heat.

SF Mike Miller's final minute 3 pt shot results in a Grizzles win, in his 14th year, 2x NBA-C.

C-PF Matt Bonner - The Spurs 'Red-Mamba' another clutch 6-10 3 pt shooter.

PF David Lee - 2x NBA All Star, Career Ave 14.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.4 apg, .9 spg.

PF Al Horford, 2x NBA All Star, Hawks in Playoffs every year with Horford. 5 yr, 60 Mil

C Jokim Noah, 2x NBA All Star - Just set a new career high with 13 assists. 5 yr, 60 Mil

Noah had triple doubles of Pts, Rbs, Asts, and Pts, Rbs, Blks, 4 total 3x-2's.

SF Cory Brewer, 1 NBA-C Mav's, now on a 3 yr, 15 Mil with the Timberwolves.

PF-C Marreese Speights - On 2-10-14 he had 32 pts, 8 rbs, 3 blks for the Warriors.

SF-PF Chandler Parsons 2011 SEC PoY. He recently set a new NBA record for made 3

pointers in a half. Those 10 of 14 3-pointers were also a Rockets record for 3's in a game.

PG Nic Calathes, coming off the bench for injured Grizzles PG, in 6 games has averaged:

~ 16.1 pts, 12.1 assists, and 4.7 rebounds.

He was the Eurocup MVP last season.

SG Bradly Beal has recently had a career high 37 pt game. Finished #2 in NBA 3 Pt Shootout.

Current Gator Win Streaks:

8 SEC Road Wins

15 SEC Overall Wins

20 SEC Home Floor Wins

~ Broke Ark's 23 game overall home floor win streak.

~ Broke UK's 22 game overall home floor win streak.

UF - Is riding a 30 Game Overall Home Floor Win Streak.
smokin.r191677.gif

* But it's the Final 6 Game Win streak that counts the most.
The current rankings, seedings, and streaks are just the fun in getting
there. Me and Coach Izzo have both long said;
"You have to be good enough to get to the Sweet 16,
and then LUCKY enough to make it to the
Final Four.
After that, whoever get's hot for 2 games Wins the NC."
UF is 2-1 in NC games with BillyD at the helm, the loss was to Izzo.

So while I'm not 'expecting' UF to win the NC this year, I'm certainly
'cautiously hopeful' that they can win it all, with a little Big Dance luck.
==========

However, in the Here & Now,,,,,

Well, kensucky just lost the Gators into to the SEC regular season title. Thanks

mildcats, for giving it to them a couple of days early...
08
The Gator's next win

would have sealed it for them anyway, but this takes any strain off of the game

against LSU on Saturday. This makes BillyD's 6th (4th Outright) SEC-C. The

Gator's have been the SEC-C in 3 of the last 4 seasons.

Famous Last Words: Rick Pitino to Billy Donovan - "Don't take the HC'ing
job at UF because it's just a 'football school.' They will never support a
championship basketball program."
-- Hey Rick,,,, WRONG!!!

With the Ark OT defeat of UK at home on Thurs night,
the Gators are the outright 2013-14 SEC Regular Season Champions.

At the end of that game, BillyD sent his 4 Sr's a text message:

" What happened in Lexington has nothing to do with us."

Those Sr's filtered that down to the rest of the team, there's more out there.

For what it's worth, no team other than Kentucky has gone unbeaten through

the SEC schedule the last 57 years; and no team in college basketball history,

including Kentucky, has gone undefeated in an 18-game conference season.

Just like Florida is the only SEC school with B-2-B NC's in the expanded 65

team, NCAA 'BIG Dance' Tourney. (UK in 1948-49 - only 16 teams dance)

And then there's the SEC Tourney,,, followed by the next Big Dance.

including Kentucky, has gone undefeated in an 18-game conference season.

Just like Florida is the only SEC school with B-2-B NC's in the expanded 65

team, NCAA 'BIG Dance' Tourney. (UK in 1948-49 - only 16 teams dance)

And then there's the SEC Tourney,,, followed by the next Big Dance.

(as iG continues to keep his fingers crossed)

LSU came in with the #1 scoring offense (76.8 pts/gm) in the SEC.

#1 UF Men's Basketball 27-2, 16-0 SEC - UF 79 - 61 LSU (-18)

LSU trailed by as many as 29 pts in the 2nd half before Billy put the WO's in.
UF shot 57% FG's. Also 56.5% on 3's. Frazier 4 of 6, Wilbekin 3 of 5, D.Walker 2 of 3.

UF's bench vs LSU: UF 28 - 2 LSU

SF D.Fenny--Smith rsSo - 16 pts, 2 rbs, 2 ast

SF/G D.Walker So - 6 pts, 2 ast, 1 stl
PG K.Hill Fr - 4 pts, 5 ast, 2 TO's, 2 stls
PF-C C.Walker Fr - 2 pts - 6 rbs - 2 blk, 1 stl
Not bad for off the bench, and a nice start for the 2015 season.

In 2010, Kentucky hired John Calipari. That was it. It was over for the other SEC

teams. With Calipari's ability to recruit and Kentucky's tradition and fanbase, there
was little point to even play the conference season. Thanks for coming, fellas. It's a
one-horse league and a bunch of nags, or so claimed the arrogant mildcat fans.

However, they failed to fully account for what BillyD means to Gator B-Ball. In SEC

play over the last 4 years, it's UF 52-13 SEC -- UK 49-16 SEC. UF has now won 3

of the last 4 SEC-C's, while going to 3 consecutive Elite 8's. Nags my azz...

#1 UF 28-2, 17-0 SEC, 72 - 46 SCa (-26) against the SCa team that just

knocked off UK at home in that same Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.

The next man to step up big time for the Gator team?

Soph SG Michael Frazier II set a Record for an SEC game with 11 made 3 pt'ers.

He shot 11 of 18 (61.1%) 3 pointers for the game, also setting a new UF record.

"My teammates told me if I've got a crack to let it go." -- Frazier

Frazier went 11-for-18 from 3-point range and not only equaled the most points

ever scored by a UF player under Coach Billy Donovan (tying Joakim Noah's 37

versus Georgia on March 1, 2006), but broke the record of nine 3-pointers in

an SEC game that had been set eight times, including by the likes of LSU's

Chris Jackson, Kentucky's Tony Delk and Tennessee's Chris Lofton.

"What did I think when I saw him shoot?" Sr PF Will Yeguete asked back. "That it

was going in." Added Sr PG Scottie Wilbekin: "To be honest, I didn't really know

how many he was hitting. If I had guessed, I probably would have said 5 or 6. But

then when I saw him catch the ball and set himself, I think it hit me ... he wasn't

missing. 'Fraiz' was doing all our scoring and we were all playing great defense."

"Phenomenal," UF coach Billy Donovan said.

He had 37 points for the game, and the rest of the team had 35 pts....
05

IF they ever all go off on the same night, the scoreboard will likely explode!

But the other guys were busy on defense, getting a season high 17 steals.

"They don't make mistakes, they don't get flustered," South Carolina coach
Martin said. "They bait you into dribbling into certain areas of the floor,,,,

and when you do they attack you like pirahnas."

Patric Young, Will Yeguete, Scottie Wilbekin and Casey Prather have
been on the bench during their Gator careers. This wasn't a HS Fantastic
Four recruiting class coming out. Young was considered a Top-5 C
prospect and Prather was ranked 15th among SF's by Rivals.com. PG
Wilbekin was under the radar because he skipped his senior year at
The Rock in Gainesville. He arrived at UF at 16 and was a playing tFr
at 17 years old. While PF Yeguete was considered an under-developed
project from France. These 4 Gators came in as a #9 recruiting class,
but they've had the #1 Coach, and coaching staff. They have been
developed not just as basketball players,,,,
but as students and citizens, what college is supposed to be about.

This is what 'COACHING' is all about, not 6 Fr 1 & Done MickyD's.
These 4 Gators form what is probably one of the most popular senior
class to go through Senior Day at UF. It's partly because of their very
likeable personalities and partly because of their solid work ethic. UF
has 4 Sr starter STUDENT/athletes who have been slowly built into a
No. 1 ranking. While Kensucky has its usual collection of,,,,
'me first FR Prima-dona's.'

Last November I said that Gator B-Ball had a chance to be pretty good,
if and when:
(most thought that iG was delusional BTW)

PG Scottie Wilbekin Sr returned from BillyD's suspension for team rules
violation.

SF Dorian Finney-Smith rsSo (6th Man) returned from Billy'D's suspension,
also team rules.
PF Will Yeguete finally returned to 100% (in Dec) from his major off
season
knee surgery.
(Walk-on F Jacob Kurtz was needed to play 26 minutes in the season

opening game) PF-C D. Harris rsJr returned from BillyD's suspension,
yet another for team rules. Donovan announced his dismissal on Dec 21st,
but after the holidays with his family, Harris begged for and was granted a
chance to return. However, Billy extended his suspension for the entire
season with 'A CHANCE' to return to the team and play next season.
He has requirements similar to what Scottie had when Billy told him he
could xfer out if he wanted to. Everyone, including Scottie, is GLAD that

he did what was required and stayed a Gator for his Sr season! Intense
but positive coaching, solid unrelenting, but fairly applied 'team rules.'

> Notice anything about BillyD and HIS team rules?

How good would the Gator's be with Harris in the playing rotation?

Re: On Fri. 1PM, UF vs Mizzou/aTm winner.

1. UF 29-2, 18-0 - RPI 2 (a better RPI against an SEC schedule?)
nerd.r191677.gif

8. Kan 22-7 - RPI 3 -- (UK 21-8)
16. IoSt 22-6 - RPI 8
23. Ok 21-8 - RPI 17
25 UK 21-8 - RPI 19

Again the Big 12/11/Whatever looks media-moron over-rated to me.
The difference in W/L record is UK has twice lost to the #1 Team,
while the BEST Big12/11 has only played and lost to them once.

Basketball: UF 67 - 61 Kansas, the over-rated Big Twelve/11's supposedly BEST team...
laugh.r191677.gif

The BEST team, from the BEST conference, loses to a no-where SEC/football school....
roll.r191677.gif

==============

Gator's by 21 at the half.

UK with a 15-0 early 2nd half run (imoho, spurred by crappy officials).

Then the Gator's by +19 to finish off their PERFECT 18-0 SEC season.

29-2, 18-0 SEC -- UF 84 - 65 UK (-19)

Topped off with the 4 seniors leading the Rowdy Reptiles in singing

Happy Birthday to the only non-senior starter, 20 year old Soph SG
Michael Frazier II.Then the 4 seniors gathered on the center court
Gator logo, got down ontheir knees, and kissed the Gator goodbye.
'TEAM' personified!!!
smokin.r191677.gif

From Carlos Alvarez (College Football HoF, and AA WR) - "One of the

greatest TEAMS in Gator history --- and I mean all of Florida's athletic

teams not just basketball."

"They will be forever a great example of the power of "TEAM" in a team sport

and what outstanding senior leadership can do. Everyone that is part of this

TEAM, players, Coach Donovan, assistants, trainers, equipment managers

and the athletic department support staff deserve our thanks. You have

created a piece of art, a lifetime memory and an enduring inspiration.

Awesome!" (Carlos was also a Gator Academic AA & Academic HoF)

And behind those 4 seniors and a sophomore is what I believe to be the

best/deepest 'quality' bench in the NCAA. Case in point, tFr PG Kasey Hill

had 8 pts, 7 assists, 0 turnovers, 4/4 on FT's. While rsSo SF Fenny-Smith

had 11 pts going 3/4 from the 3pt arc. The Gator bench out scored

Kentucky's 24 - 13 for the game. The Gators scored 28 of their baskets off

20 assists, finishing with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 20 to 10. Kentucky's

assist-to-turnover ratio was 10 to 14.

Along with being honored during Senior Day ceremonies, Florida Sr SF

against Kentucky leading the Gators in scoring at 14.5 points per game.

The 6-foot-6 SF from Jackson, Tenn., scored 15 against the Wildcats.

UK PF Julius Randle, Conn. G Shabazz Napier, Kansas F Andrew Wiggins.

Yeguete earns SEC Honor:

Florida senior forward Will Yeguete was named to the SEC men's basketball community
service team on Monday. He is involved in a number of outreach programs at UF,
including visiting sick children at Shands Hospital and speaking at local elementary
schools about the importance of fitness and maintaining good grades.

Co-SEC Players of the Week:

Florida's SG Michael Frazier II 6-4 200 Soph - Tampa

Vs SCa & UK he averaged 23 pts.

Vs SCA, 37 pts going 11 of 18 from the arc.

His 37 pts were the most by a Gator since the 1982-83 season.

His 11 3-pointers were a UF record, and an SEC league game record.

Tenessee's PF Jarnell Stokes 6-8 270 Jr - Memphis

He averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in wins over AU

Mizzou. He had 20 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts and a steal against Auburn.

No Tenn or SEC Records, but they gave him a 'share' anyway....

UK is now,,, not even ranked in the Top 25...

becomes just the 4th preseason #1 to fall out of the poll in the same season.

The BPI becomes more important as the regular season comes to an end.

Basketball Power Index: (BPI) is a team rating system that accounts for the

final score, pace of play, site, strength of opponent and absence of key players

in every Division I men's game. BPI can be used to measure both how well a

team has performed (going far beyond just wins and losses) and how powerful

it is likely to be going forward to the NCAA Big Dance.

SEC Big Dance Candidates:

AP & Coaches: #1 UF 29-2, 18-0 SEC - NCAA One Seed

SEC selects Gator PG Scottie Wilbekin as their Player of the Year.

From twice suspended by BillyD to PoY,,, nice come-back Scottie!

He credited Florida coach Billy Donovan for believing in him and UF

AD Jeremy Foley for giving him a 2nd chance after a pair of

suspensions during his junior season, the 2nd of which extended into

the start of this, his senior season. Wilbekin said. "Different games,

different people are going to score points. But every game, everybody

plays defense, so whoever scores the points is just a (team) byproduct."

Sr C Patric Young was named the SEC DefensivePlayer of the Year.

"If there was an All-Defensive Team award, I would think that would be

something more that should be praised." Pat was also named the

SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 3rd Consecutive year.

While VaTech transfer SF Dorian Fenny-Smith rsSo was named the

SEC 6th Man of the Year.

Wilbekin and Prather were named to the All-SEC First Team,

while Young was named to the All-SEC Second team.

Young and Wilbekin were named to the All-SEC Defensive Team.

The awards were based on votes from all 14 league coaches. Under

postseason award rules, coaches were not allowed to vote for their

own players.

Donovan guided the Gators to the first 18-0 regular season in SEC

history. As a result, the 18-year UF coach was named SEC coach

of the Year for 3rd time in the last 4 seasons. BillyD is the first

coach since Tennessee's Don DeVoe (1980, 81) to win back-to-back

SEC Coach of the Year honors (2013, 2014).

Billy Donovan has also been named the USBWA Coach of the Year.

Florida also received a handful of honors Tues. from the United States

Basketball Writers' Association. Donovan was named District 4 Coach

of the Year, while Wilbekin and Prather were named to the 10-player

all-district team. District 4 is composed of players and coaches from

the states of FL, GA, AL, TN, KY and MS.

Coaching Milestones: Donovan has led the Gators to 6 SEC titles

(4 outright) in 18 seasons. He is going for his fourth SEC tournament

title this weekend in Atlanta. And Donovan's 31 NCAA tournament

wins are the most by a coach in SEC history, passing legendary

Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp (30). At 444-168, Donovan is 4 wins

shy of passing LSU's Dale Brown for 2nd-most coaching wins in SEC

history (Rupp's 875).

Of course with all of the small conference Auto-bids, the real cut-off point

for the dance is more likely to be just the Top 40 Sagarin Teams.

With the cut-off at 40, it would be SEC = 4, Big 12/10 = 5

The AP/Coaches 'opinion' polls not-with-standing.

At this point, even the media-morons are starting to accept the fact
that they have vastly over-rated the Big Twelve/10 all season.

#2 SG D.Walker 3.0 ppg

W-O F Kurtz 1.8 ppg

* Take care of the ball. Both PG's have a 2.1 to 1 Assist to Turnover ratio.

As a team; 36% 3pt, 46% FG, 67% FT, for 71 pts/gm > 58.5 ppg

The Gator's should be at least a Sweet 16 team. After that; opponent,

who has the hot hands, and luck will determine the final outcome.

The SEC is a weak B-Ball Conference, and here's the proof:

UF beat Kansas and Memphis, plus FSU & Richmond

Bubble Tenn beat Virginia

Bubble Mizz beat UCLA

Etc...

Cal-Cheat Kensucky B-Ball, where star HS players go to be,,,,

under-coached and over-hyped,,, no wonder they leave so early

for the NBA. They aren't really leaving early FOR the NBA, they

are actually leaving late in getting away FROM the mildcats...

ALL SPORTS vs phootball-factory

The Gator's Track and Field Women's team won its 8th Indoor SEC title recently,
now the #1 Gator squads embark on Albuquerque, N.M., with their sights set on
bringing home the Florida athletic program's 32nd and 33rd NC titles, starting
today (Fri) at the Albuquerque, NM Convention Center.

The UF track and field program now owns 5 of Florida's last 9 NC's since 2010
(5 yrs) and both the Men's and Women's teams enter the 2014 Indoor Championships
Ranked #1. Twice before it has happened, that a single school swept both the Men's
and Women's Indoor Championships -- LSU in 2004, and AzSt in 2008.

The Gators have won a total of 4 NCAA T&F Indoor National Championships:
The women won it all in 1992, while the Florida men became the 3rd team in
NCAA History to win 3 straight Indoor titles when they did so 2010-11-12.

============

Gator B-Ball Team 3 pt shooting is 35.9%, for 3rd in the SEC.

Gator SG Michael Frazier II's 3-Pt shooting is 44.1%, for 1st in the SEC.

----------

Gator C Patric Young is the 4th Donovan Gator with 1,200+ pts and 800+ rebs,

joining Udonis Haslem, David Lee and Chandler Parsons. Those other 3 that

Young is now likely to be joining are all still in the NBA and doing very well.

----------

I got news for ya dude, I wouldn't trade Donovan for KU's Self, no-way, no-how.

2013-14 - UF's Preseason Ranking was #23. -- #1 UF 67-61 Kansas.

UF in SEC Tourney Before Donovan 15-31 (.326) -- With BillyD 23-14 (.622)

BillyD has 6 SEC Tourney Finals 2004-05-06-07-11-12--?14?

With 3 SEC Tourney Titles - 2005, 2006, 2007,,,, ?? 2014 ??

Looking for #7 and then #4. (iG crosses fingers) (@UF 68-58 Mizzou)

Oh BTW, 2x Gold Medal Coach Donovan is again the SEC Coach of the Year.

Kansas and Kentucky are 'B-Ball' schools, while Florida is a Top 10 ALL SPORTS

school for the last 30 Consecutive Years. The SI 'Mountain Top of College Sports.'

That all means 'jack' on Friday against Mizzou. I've been around long enough
to know that SCa beating Ark is not the 1st, nor will it be the last upset in
SEC Tourney play. The Regular Season and it's results are history now,,, it's
no conscience Tourney Time.

---------

This Gator senior class has won 55 career regular-season games,
that's the most All Time, for any SEC team over a 4 year period.

(Kentucky is the 1st loser with 50).
02

Florida is the ONLY team in SEC History to go 18-0 in SEC 'Season' Play.

Re: By starting this thread, the cat-rammer has proven his interest...

UF was a Preseason Media-Moron #23 Ranked.
UF is now #1 Ranked & the Overall NCAA Tourney 1 Seed!
tongue.r191677.gif

============

First the Gator fans had the B-2-B NC OH-4's (2004).

Now the Gator fans have the Perfect 10's. (2010)
08

Pretty SWEET! 18-0 + 3-0 = 21-0 SEC Season & Tourney Champs.
Hey cat-rammer, do let me know when your own uglies manage that.
nerd.r191677.gif

=============

"We wake up this morning, this is in the past," Frazier said. "So I think

we have to do a good job of understanding that we need to focus on our

next point and focus on our next goal." (I Agree - So Let's Dance - iG)

"It doesn't really matter once the games start playing,"Gator Sr PG Scottie

Wilbekin said. "Anybody can beat anybody, so we just have to refocus and

not let it get to our heads that we're now the (Big Dance) No. 1 seed."

(exactly! - iG)

Trivia 1: The SEC's PoY, also named the Tourney MVP, the Wilde-BEAST!
16

Gator's Season Win Streak is another new UF Record, 26 in a row.
Our Wilde-BEAST has accomplished more for his team and UF,
than your johnny-sig did for yours.
wink.r191677.gif

So, what do they mean by 'grit' and 'grind it out' type of play?

Florida is 7-1 this season in games decided by 5 points or less

and 15-2 in games decided by single digits. Making 1/2 (17) of UF's

34 games (32-2), single digit games.

=============

IF we all win, (big IF) then UK & Tn could meet in the Elite 8, and
UF vs UK/UT could meet in the NC game. (pretty unlikely, but possible)

============

Trivia #2: Tenn was the last team (1979) to beat UK 3x in a season:

So UF did it to both of the them in 2013-14.

@ UF 67-41 UT (-26) -- UF 69-59 @ UK (-10)

UF 67-58 @ UT (-9) -- @ UF 84-65 UK (-19)

---------------Tourney---------------

UF 56-49 UT (-7) -- UF 61-60 UK (-1)

UF 3-0 UT ------ UF 3-0 UK

So yep, they're the PERFECT TEN'S alright!

Florida is now 4-3 in SEC Tourney Finals with SEC CoY Billy Donovan.

Okay, OK, I know it's braggin' and a little bit of gloatin' on my part, but

what would YOU be doing if the situation was reversed? Quietly sitting at

home and contemplating? -- (yeah,,, right!)
laugh.r191677.gif

Lastly: And I can't say this strongly enough,

the sec refs TOTALLY SUCKED SOME MORE!!!

Just to point out a few of their more gross calls, and/or no-calls:

~ No call on a UK back court that happened right in front of the official.

~ An offensive interference call on Pat, when it was UK's Randel GOAL-TENDING.

~ A UK Flagrant 1 foul on Wilbekin, with just a regular foul call by the official.

* Added to that, allowing UK offense to drive into and/or drop a shoulder and slam

into the Gators, then turning around and calling a Gator for a foul when there was

very little or no contact.

~ Randel drove and then jumped forward into a standing P.Young, no foul. Then

Prather drives into the lane, jumps to shoot, gets knocked to the floor and misses,

butno foul called. IT WAS DISGUSTING OFFICIATING YET AGAIN. They did

everything that they could to put UK in the winning column, so ph--- U A-holes again!

(honest, heart felt things that coaches and players can't get away with saying)
07

Sagarin:

#3 UF 31-2 -- 6-2 vs Top 25 -- 9-2 vs Top 50 --- AP/C's #1
ESPN RPI #1 - BPI #2

#6 KU 24-9 -- 5-5 vs Top 25 -- 12-7 vs Top 50 -- AP/C's #10
ESPN RPI #3 - BPI #5
UF 67-61 KU (-6) 2 seed --- UF 56-49 Tn (-7) 11 seed -- UF 61-60 UK (-1) 8 seed

THEY, can choose to put anyone in any barcket or ranking that they want to.
Mizzou beat 4 seed UCLA, and 4 seed UCLA beat 1 seed AZ.
Play-in 11 seed Tenn, beat 1 seed Va by +35pts.

And on and on and on it went across the season.

IMOHO, the bracket pickers have mostly 'seeds' instead of the necessary brains.

Re: FINAL FOUR for the GATORS!

#1 UF 36-2, 18-0 SEC, 3-0 SEC Tourney - Only team ever to go - 21-0 SEC
and that's the Gator's Perfect 10's (2010).

The BIG Dance:

Round of 64 -- UF 67 - 55 Albany 16 seed (-12)

Round of 32 -- UF 61 - 45 Pittsburg 9 seed (-16)

Sweet 16 -- UF 79 - 68 UCLA 4 seed (-11)

Elite 8 ---- UF 62 - 52 Dayton 11 seed Cinderella (-10)

(Dayton, an 11 seed Cinderella, that beat 6-tOSU, 3-Syracuse, & 10-Stanford)

-------------------

Final Four ---- UF vs 2-Mich or 7-U-Conn

Final NC -- UF/MichSt vs Wis/Ari or UK/Mich
==============

Strange but possible, depending on the game outcomes.

UF could end up playing/beating both U-Conn (-1) and Wis (-6) to avenge their
only two early regular season losses...
nerd.r191677.gif

Or
They could play/beat UK for the 4th time in a single season.
Twice - home (+19) & away (+10) in the regular season.
For the SEC Tourney Championship (+1).
For the NCAA Championship. (?)

Whomever, for whatever,,, GOOOOOOOOoooooooooGATORS!!!

The Gators' 30-game win streak is the longest single-season win streak in

SEC History, surpassing Kentucky's 27-game streak during the 1995-96

season. LSU's 26-game win streak during the 1980-81 season ranks third.

That record 30 game win streak was against the #1 RPI, and the #2 BPI.

Nice Company: UF is only the 3rd team to win 4 games en route to Final-4

by double digits while holding each opponent to less than 70 pts, joining

MichSt (2000) and Duke (1999).
-------------------

Final Four ---- UF vs 2-Mich or 7-U-Conn

Final Four --- UF vs U-Conn

B-Ball Trivia:

C Patric Young Sr wins the National Association of Basketball Coaches

'Pete Newell Big Man of the Year' Award. Young has been selected as the

SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year the past three seasons, making him the

first SEC Athlete to win the award three times.

The AP National CoY Award went to Wichita State's Gregg Marshall.

He was 0-1 vs Kentucky, while BillyD was 3-0 vs Kentucky.

Showing that once again, media-morons and/or idiot commentators can

'vote' to 'give' an award to anyone they choose to.....
02
Maybe they were

just throwing a bone to a coach that couldn't even get his undefeated team

to the Sweet 16... Donovan (5-1, 83.3%) has the fourth highest winning

percentage of any coach in Final Four games.

Both of tomorrows semi-final games should be real snot-knockers...

Where we are, as to where we are going?

UF is an AAU member. (look it up)

UF (not Vandy) leads the SEC in Student/athletes making the

SEC Academic Honor Roll.

UF is the ONLY school in the NCAA to finish in the Top 10 for the

Director's Cup (Natl. All Sports) for the last 30 Consecutive years.
(UF virtually owns the SEC's All Sports Trophies)

In the SEC's #1 Sport (football) since the 1992 expansion to 12, then

14 teams, UF leads the SEC with 10 SEC-C appearances and 7 wins.

They also have 1 mNC and 2 BCS-NC's in that time.

UF is also the ONLY school in NCAA History to have a player win

the Heisman and the Campbell(Draddy) award, (academic heisman),

and Florida student/athletes have done so twice, (Wuerffel & Tebow).
===========

Now, as to my own W-a-G on the 2014 season, I only have my own
personal speculations to go on, not a crystal ball.

I see it this way; 7-9-11 as the W/L span.
Seven wins if things go bad (more injuries), unlikely.
Nine wins if things go pretty good, because of UF's SoS.
(UF plays the last 2 BCS-NC's, and 4 teams that have won a BCS-NC)
Eleven wins if everyting goes great, with an outside shot at the SEC-C.
While not impossible (on any Sat.) 11 wins or more would SHOCK me!
Being one of the 4 Playoff teams would also be a pretty big surprise.

Now, IF you wanted me to be more specific, then to bad. However, if
you have other more specific questions, then ask away....
smokin.r191677.gif

Re: More 2014 Speculations:

The 2013 Gator Defense, even with all of the injuries, was still #10 in the Nation,
and #1 in thr SEC in Pass Defense. Better this year imoho.

Offseason Note: Gator's new OC/QB's Roper has coached at Tenn/P.Manning,
at Ole Miss/E.Manning, and at Duke/T.Lewis, and now at UF/J.Driskel.

"I don't think there's a time when he's not thinking about football honestly,"

Most high school seniors treat their final spring break as a sacred event. Treon Harris,
however, is not like most. Instead of relaxing on a beach, the Gator qB signee is taking
the concept of gym rat to new extremes by spending nearly his entire spring break at UF

5-19-2014 - Gators Again Sweep the SEC All Sports Awards:

1. Florida - .7716

2. Georgia - .7123

3. aTm - .6422

4. UA - .6394

5. UK - .5697

While Florida won 5 more SEC-C titles: (including 2 of the Men's Big 3)

Men's Basketball, Baseball, and Swimming and Diving;

Women's Soccer and Indoor Track and Field.

It was a clean sweep for the Gators for the 24th time, while the women

won for the 21st time, and the men for the 18th time.

Florida is the only school to ever sweep the Overall, Men's and Women's titles.
So the Gators having their 1st losing season in the last 34 years just wasn't that
big of a deal for a long time Gator fan like me.

Re: The SEC's Big 3 'Center' of attention....

Gator Center Patric Young at the NBA Combine in Chicago:
UF Career: 1,307 pts, 849 rbs - 3 Elite 8's, 1 Final 4, with a Record 55 SEC wins.
Ht: 6-10 (an inch taller than listed while at UF)
Wingspan 7' 3/4" (wingspan is wider than his height)
Bench 25 reps with 185 Lbs (best at the NBA combine)
Vert: 37-1/2" (2nd best at combine)
Who wants him, where should he go? To a team that is looking for a smart, reliable
young player to develop for its front court -- someone who can come off the bench,
play defense, and be absolutely no problem in the locker room or away from the court.

And another reason that NBA teams might want to draft Gator C/F Young?
How about history? Udonis Haslem, Mike Miller, David Lee, Matt Bonner, Joakim Noah,
Al Horford, Corey Brewer, Marreese Speights, Chandler Parsons, Eric Murphy....

Gator 2014 Center Max Garcia 6-4 311 rsSr
The UF's new Center was recently named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List.

Gator Center Fielder Harrison Bader 5-11 190 Soph:
2013 SEC's All-Freshman Team - .317 batting ave, 15 of 21 on stolen bases.
2014 - .303, 10 of 12 on stolen bases, on base % is .389.
Sophomore center fielder Harrison Bader (3/5, R, RBI) played a big role in
Thursday night's win. Florida was down to its last out, trailing Tennessee 5-4
in the top of the ninth, when Bader hit an RBI double. It was the start of a
one-man show that would go on to win the game for UF. Two innings later in
the 11th, Bader singled, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error
and crossed the plate on a fielding error to give UF the 6-5 victory and the
Outright SECe-C, with at least a share of the season SEC-C.
On Friday night, the Gator's 4-2 win gave them the UF/Tn series with the
Outright SEC-C.

Cat-rammer, in the SEC, being a Conference Champion in anything is not easy.
Being the 'Undisputed' SEC All Sports Champ is something else again.

But speaking of the LOSERS -- UF 20-17 @ aTm

UF 20-26 GaSo

aTm is obviously not nearly as good of a football team as GaSo is.

Oh btw, GaSo had a 1st Rnd NFL RB taken before aTm's Johnny Signature.

UF has appeared in 10 SEC-C football games since 1992, winning 7 of them.

4-3 vs Bama --- 2-0 vs Ark --- 1-0 vs AU

Let me know IF aTm ever even makes an appearance in the SEC-C game.

UF just went 18-0 to win the SEC-C in Basketball, 1st in SEC to ever go
undefeated. Then add in the (3-0) SEC Tourney for a 21-0 SEC season.
Finished ranked at #3 in the NCAA with the best W/L record at 36-3.

Let me know IF aTm ever even comes close to doing that. (in your dreams)

UF has already won the SEC-C in Baseball, and they are playing LSU for the
