Seriously.

I saw a comment somewhere that said if this is what $95MM gets us, maybe we should have spent $195MM.

This stirred something in my brain.

We are married to Jimbo for the remainder of the $95MM contract for better or worse, and there is not a damned thing we can do about it.

He is getting paid to win. But is not winning. And he will get paid anyway.

What if you offer him a bonus scale? He probably already has that in his contract, but what if it is made more attractive, with a provision?

He wins the West, $5MM bonus.

He wins the SEC, $10MM more.

He wins the Big Game, $15MM more.

The Provision: He goes 7-5 or worse and he's gone, contract voided.
Even if he refused to accept this modification, there would be an added incentive with the bonus scale.
It would also tell us if he has any confidence in his coaching and the program if he did not accept the provision.

Is it worth an additional $30MM to get a Championship?

There's no such thing as a little bit pregnant. We are there. And we are going to be paying the balance of the contract. And if he is fired, we are going to be paying another coach a contract on top of that.

What is there to lose over the next three seasons if this approach is taken?

I've seen dozens comment that he has no incentive. That may be correct.

How much is a championship worth?
