I spoke at length with a former defensive player (his father works for me) that played while Elko was here. He said Elko was by far the smartest most organized coach on staff. He said not only would Elko quietly motivate you to run through a brick wall for him but would show you the exact place you should run through to make it easy for you and explain to you why you were attacking that point in the wall. He said no defensive meeting was a waste of time. You left the meeting knowing exactly the hows and whys of your assignments for the coming week.
