I've been giving this a little thought on one of the perhaps the less considered reasons he may be taking a little more time on this hire. I know most coaches hire on familiarity, but Elko doesn't seem absolutely married to the concept, at least not for big hires. Klein wasn't. Secondly, he doesn't appear to want to surround himself with a group of yes men; he wants coaches and staff aligned with his vision for the program, yes, but still their own men. Lastly, he already knows what he wants in a defense. Still, he strikes as a coach who isn't opposed learning and who may very well hire someone who shares his core values while challenging him with many new schemes and ideas. I may be off base, just spitballing...

Gig'em!!!
