I've been watching closely who Coach Elko and the staff are retaining and who they are bringing in. It's quite an eclectic group, but they share a commonality. They are football players first and hopefully great citizens and Ags along with it. Mark has already gone over the positions, so I won't do that again, but what I will share what I see as some of the traits we appear to be targeting...
- Size/Speed Ratio (Especially in the Secondary) - This shouldn't surprise us at all. It's a Coach Elko theme going back to his DC days with us.
- Production over Stars in Some Instances - The staff counts on their evaluations over what recruiting sites show and to me that's a good thing. Good players can still be overlooked or underrated.
- Still Need the Jimmy & Joes, but not head cases - Bussey and McKinley are still must haves in the class, particularly Bussey. I've read no reservations on these two kids. Still, in the long run, character must matter.
