Here’s what I think (ie. hope) happened…
Bjork and the BOR were set to move forward with Fisch.
Somebody connected to the search (BMA, BOR member, Administrator, etc) is not a fan of Fisch and tried to organize a coup with what he perceived to be an “exciting hire,” with the help of Stoops and Sexton.
Once setting the ball, in motion, the outcry was overwhelming and somebody in charge (Bjork) called Stoops and told them that there was no way we were hiring him.
This allowed Stoops to write that tweet and save face, while Bjork calls Fisch to tell him that an insubordinate member of his team/Stoops were trying to jockey for the job, but Bjork was able to shut it down because we want to move forward with Fisch, as discussed.
This would lead to: Once Fisch agrees, a public joint announcement is made, immediately.
