When I went to school, it was the shoe guy. Sunday night dinner the shoe guy would go to your locker and you would get your bonus. 100 for linemen that played, and up from there depending on the skill and performance. 500 was almost unheard of. There was one guy that would put it in your shoes on Sunday night or Monday morning.
I know a school on the river in Travis county. They would tape it to an envelope on your food tray. All schools did it. Texas State, not so much. LSU.... every player.
We all know about the firebirds, mustangs, etc. back in the 70s and 80s with SMU and yes, us. Yes, momma or daddy might get a new job.
Now it is so much more sophisticated.
What I am hearing, A&M and Missouri have not played to the level for "special" players that the other SEC school do and have done. The "handshake" is still there, but we are seriously avoiding NCAA wrath.
So the question would be..... are you willing to incur the wrath of the NCAA if caught, to outperform Auburn, Alabama, LSU, for those two to three players that make a difference in the Shreveport Bowl or the Fiesta Bowl. In the SEC West, that's what it is, two to three players a year because all recruit well and all cheat well.
