If the 16 team superconferences are the future with 4 conferences of 64 teams total being the goal, then every school playing football wants to be one of those 4 conferences. If you're a minor football school in a major conference you absolutely want to stay in your stable conference. So in the SEC you have the historically old time members of Vanderbilt, Kentucky ( I know they're good in BB but it's a football thread), Ole Miss, Miss. State to name four obvious ones that are not in any way major football powers. If you were starting a conference from scratch would you rather have those 4 vs say OSU, TT, West Virg. or Iowa State as an example? In fact every major conference has a member or two or three that are terrible in football, always have been in the last 30 yrs and probably would not be chosen if you were starting conferences from scratch. So my point is that EXISTING members of existing Big 4 conferences- SEC, Big 10, Pac 10 and the ACC don't want changes- they want stability. OU and tu want that stability- that's why they want into the SEC and that is why the rest of the current members of the SEC overall also want stability and will in the end accept ou and tu to get that stability along with the money and prestige. The rest of the current Big 12 will be in trouble and scrambling as far as their future in the world of 64 teams in 4 Superconferences.
