compared to the summer of 2013?
That summer we came off an 11 win season, a Cotton Bowl beat down of OU, and a Heisman Trophy.
I am talking about the culture, the aggressive marketing department. A&M had billboards all over Texas and scattered across the Southeast. Are we still sending out recruiting tweets on Twitter? I don't know, I don't do Twitter but there sure seemed to be a lot more talk back then.
Sumlin landed pretty much whatever recruits he wanted. He was aggressive, had something to prove.
Did losing Loftin hurt the "Course Change" that moved A&M to the SEC, start the capital campaign for a new $450 MM stadium renovation, and extend Sumlin's contract to keep on winning.
A&M was very serious about football during this time and it showed beyond Manziel winning the Heisman. Sure that helped, but something has changed.
Is it losing Loftin and his vision for the athletic department? Paying Sumlin a guaranteed 5MM per for 5 years that made him complacent? Both?
This is not the same program it was a few years ago from a recruiting or marketing stand point, and I would like to know why.
