My guess at who wins the remaining position battles

Left guard: Over. Keaton Sutherland.
Middle linebacker: Josh Walker, and I'm a big AJ Hilliard guy. I think he's just gotten more snaps this fall as they bring Hilliard back to full health.
Corner: Brandon Williams, but Nick Harvey is going to play a lot. This is a situation where both guys improved significantly (or, at least appear to have improved significantly) as a result of competing.
PK: Taylor Bertolet. I mentioned the small arena sized nets last night. He apparently hit two from 50 yards that were good last week.

A stab at 70-man travel roster

According to SEC rules, a visiting team (or any team at a neutral site game) can suit up a total of 70 players. Here's a guess at what A&M's could look like for Arizona State.

QB (4): Kyle Allen, Kyler Murray, Jake Hubenak, Conner McQueen (he's the holder)
RB (5): Tra Carson, James White, Kendall Bussey, Brice Dolezal, Kwame Etwi
WR (9): Speedy Noil, RSJ, Josh Reynolds, Christian Kirk, Ed Pope, Damion Ratley, Jeremy Tabuyo, Sabian Holmes, Boone Neiderhofer
TE (2): Brandon Alexander, Jordan Davis, Caden Smith
OL (11): Avery Gennesy, Keaton Sutherland, Mike Matthews, Joe Cheek, Germain Ifedi, Koda Martin, Ryan Lindblade, Erik McCoy, Jermaine Eluemunor, Connor Lanfear, J.J. Guastafson

DL (12): Myles Garrett, Julien Obioha, Daeshon Hall, Alonzo Williams, Daylon Mack, Hardreck Walker, Deshawn Washington, Qualen Cunningham, Jarrett Johnson, James Lockhart, Kingsley Keke, Zaycoven Henderson
LB (9): Otaro Alaka, Shaan Washington, Josh Walker, AJ Hilliard, Richard Moore, Claude George, Dwaine Thomas, Riley Garner, Landis Durham, Jake Blount
CB (7): Devante Harris, Brandon Williams, Nick Harvey, Alex Sezer, Victor Davis, Roney Elam, Deshawn Capers-Smith, Noel Ellis
S (6): Armani Watts, Justin Evans, Justin Dunning, Donovan Wilson, Devonta Burns, Larry Pryor, Sam Moeller
PK (2): Taylor Bertolet, Daniel LaCamera
P (1): Drew Kaser
Deep Snapper (1)

I doubt this is 100% right, but it'll give you an idea.

Oh man, 2016 could be silly

This struck me the other day, initially about linebacker recruiting. The thought process started that they'll add a couple of players to what they'll have and lose...

Then it hit. Nothing. They'll have everyone back and a new class to add to it. That's real depth.

But look at the rest of the team. There's very little being lost across the board (though attrition will surely dent this projected group), and the replacements almost everywhere are in place. Here's a glance (and forgive me if I make an obvious screwup; I'm fighting a migraine. Also, I'm not including every single commit, so some won't be at positions of bigtime depth.):

QB: Kyle Allen (Jr.), Kyler Murray (Soph.), Jake Hubenak (Jr.)
RB: James White (RS-Jr.), Keith Ford (RS-Jr.), Kendall Bussey (Soph.), Jay Bradford (RS-Fr., hopefully)
TE: Jordan Davis (Soph.), Irv Smith (Fr.), Zarrian Holcombe (Fr.)
LT: Avery Gennesy (Sr.), Koda Martin (RS-Soph.)
LG: Keaton Sutherland (Soph.), Jermaine Eluemunor (RS-Sr.)
C: Erik McCoy (Soph.), Jeremiah Stuckey (RS-Sr.)
RG: Connor Lanfear (Soph. or RS-Fr.), Tank Davis (RS-Soph.)
RT: Hopefully Germain Ifedi (RS-Sr.), or Martin or Trevor Elbert (RS-Fr.)
WR: Speedy (Jr.), RSJ (RS-Jr.), Christian Kirk (Soph.), Josh Reynolds (RS-Sr.), Jeremy Tabuyo (Sr.), Quartney Davis (Fr.), Ed Pope (RS-Sr.), Kemah Siverand (RS-Fr.), Boone Niederhofer (RS-Sr.), Jamal Jeffery (RS-Soph.), Kendrick Rogers (Fr.)

DE: Myles Garrett (Jr.), Daeshon Hall (Sr.), Qualen Cunningham (Jr.), James Lockhart (Soph.), Jarrett Johnson (Jr.), Mark Jackson (Fr.), Alton Robinson (Fr.)
DT: Hardreck Walker (Sr.), Daylon Mack (Soph.), Deshawn Washington (RS-Soph.), Kingsley Keke (Soph.), Zaycoven Henderson (Jr.), Justin Manning (RS-Jr.)
OLB: Otaro Alaka (Jr.), Shaan Washington (Sr.), Claude George (Sr.), Richard Moore (Soph.), Dwaine Thomas (Soph.), Riley Garner (Soph.)
MLB: Josh Walker (Jr.), A.J. Hilliard (RS-Sr.), Landis Durham, (Soph.), Tyrel Dodson (LB)
S: Armani Watts (Jr.), Justin Evans (Sr.), Justin Dunning (Soph.), Larry Pryor (Soph.), Donovan Wilson (Jr.)
CB: Nick Harvey (Jr.), Priest Willis (Jr.), Alex Sezer (Sr.), Victor Davis (RS-Jr.), Roney Elam (Soph.), Deshawn Capers-Smith (Soph.), Trayvon Fuller (Fr.), Charles Oliver (Fr.)

PK: Daniel LaCamera (Soph.)
P: Braden Mann (Fr.)

That's a pretty veteran team with a lot of talent, not even counting what's still to come through the remainder of this class. If they had this year's scheduled...it would almost be unfair.
